Polite way of explaining to in-laws the As their kids receive are not

Kids can go to bad schools with low quality instruction but still fight for As, in which case their parents would be proud and unaware that their children's education is subpar.

The best you can do, OP, is to encourage these kids to take national exams. That is quite literally the only way to know where they rank. SAT, ACT or AP exams. If they have decent scores, it means their core classes had to count for something.

Kids with fake As will bomb the SAT and parents say their kid just isn’t a good test taker.

former private school teacher who once gave a senators granddaughter a B and who should have seen the s***storm that ensued.

Private schools are all different. My child's school most definitely gave low grades.

Are you Asian-American?
Which college?
What major?

Oh god, now we have only-Asians-can-be-smart mom on the board. Or are you OP as well? Some of you should consider getting a psych eval. Obsessing this much over how you compare to anonymous strangers is not normal, having compulsions to put down your in-laws children is not normal, checking to make sure successful anons are Asian is seriously not normal.

Then they just send them to one of the woke California universities that say standardized tests are racist. The admissions officers will take the fake As from out-of-state as legit because they know the in-state As are hot trash.

OP, there is no polite way to plan to be rude. This whole thread is a non sequitur.

you dont. you maybe remind them to reset their expectations re college admissions with a simple comment that admission to top schools is rare and unpredictable. their kids may be genuinely very smart and hardworking and ultimately rise to the occasion in college.

I'm curious what OP consider "top rung" - hopefully not one of the public school systems around here. LOL.
