Industry on HBO

Spoiler warning

Eric falling back into his addiction is an interesting plot point, especially after what he did in the last episode, firing Yasmin. Anxious to see how that explodes/implodes (or doesn't; men can get away with a LOT of shite women can't, and the show already showed a lot of that).

Speaking of Eric being a shady, manipulative MFer...

Yeah, that was one of the most brutal back-stabbings I've seen on the screen. So well written and acted.

The music and the dialogue and the murmuring in the background of the workplace seems so formulaic and tired at this point. how many emergency financial situations can they save before it becomes repetitive?

+1
I have to keep the subtitles on so I can follow the conversations in the background. The most vile character is Eric, Harper's direct boss. After him would be Yasmin's boss, Conor (the guy with raging short man syndrome). This show makes me feel anxious, stressed, and upset - and still I watch it! Not a good feeling.

The major focus on sex is so unrealistic. Glad to hear it gets better in seasons 2 and 3, because I'm starting to just fast forward all of those scenes. It's just way, way too much.

Forgetting all the sex and drugs, the work stress doesn’t make this fun to watch for me. It’s different than, say, Succession, where I just don’t relate to the work stresses the characters have.

This is it for me too. Not exactly the same, but brings me back to my management consulting days a bit too much.

Loved the ending. Such a great season. Tbh, they should not do a season 4 (they just got renewed)

Yasmin... girl... I mean, I think we all knew that was coming. But... yikes. Welcome to the family, I guess?

Nobody in this show is gonna end happy, and I think that's kinda the point, but... it's gotten really hard to watch.

Also, Rishi?!!

Honestly I thought it was a great season. The last episode was so well done—didn’t really see any of it coming.

Same.

I hope the show finally gets some Emmy nods. Ken Leung was spectacular this season.

That was a REALLY good finale. I don't usually love this show but this was spectacularly good - and surprising but not surprising at the same time.

It felt so much like a series finale instead of a season finale - I wonder how they will pull off a season 4.

The Watch interviews the Industry show runners about the season finale:

They confirm that they wrote and shot the episode not knowing if they would be renewed. Thus, the neat little bows on all the story lines.

Holy cow the season finale!

Could I watch season 3 only and understand what is going on? Or do I need to watch from the beginning to make it worthwhile?

Watch from beginning to end. There's a lot you won't understand, and the characters develop a lot from S1 (new college grads --> jaded financiers).

While you could probably catch on, you'd miss SO much of the character development. I agree with PP: Everyone evolves. A LOT.

Don't cheat yourself. It's a great story so far!

I have watched all 3 seasons. The first season really stressed me out. Once I realized that almost all of them are terrible, emotionally damaged people, I stopped worrying that they would suffer consequences for their recklessness. I did have some confusion this season with Yasmin. The last episode seems to confirm that she was abused by her father or one of his associates. But was that when she was a kid? Or did he assault her in her cabin on the boat? I found those flashbacks hard to follow.
