What is up with compulsive talkers. I’m curious what causes them to talk non stop and have no interest in any back and forth.
I work with someone like this. He could easily waste an hour of mine on incredibly boring stuff if I am not careful |

I was taking a medication once and I talked constantly. As soon as I finished medicine I went back to normal. Check her medicine.

I assume non stop talkers are either extroverts, lonely & have no one to talk with, or just need to talk about themselves.
Going into boring lecture mode all the time is totally different. The nonstop talkers I know have interesting things to say or that recently happened to them, or need advice or suggestions, and they just can’t keep it in. |

It's very inconsiderate.
My sister was a non-stop talker. As little kids, my mother had to tell her when it was my turn to talk. Sister and I no longer speak. |
+1. I don't need to know all the details of your wife's sister's dog's weekend while I'm typing emails to clients. I have to txt people to call and save me. |
Stop with your ageist questions. Just stop. Nothing to do with this. |
| Person likely had auditory procesing issues and dominates the conversation as a way of coping. Just be blunt. |
I have a friend like this. I cannot stand being around her. She talks non-stop and constantly talks about herself. If you say, "hey, I had a good day", she'll interrupt and tell you what a FABULOUS day she had and go on forever about why it was better. No matter what you say, she brings it back to her and doesn't stop. I think it's some form of narcissism. It's so unbearable. I've had to cut the relationship bc it's so mentally taxing. |

If you have been patient for years and kindly suggested therapy or medical help and this person won’t go, just stay away. Relationships are a two-way street, and so are conversations. Nobody gets to monopolize a party or an event or even a normal get- together just bc they refuse to address their mental health. Yes, life can be hard, but adults are responsible for seeking the care that they need. I have a relative like this and she would talk about highly personal
things or hot-button political issues for for literally hours and nobody could change the conversation or get a word in edgewise. Even if she asked you a question, she would cut you off before you could finish answering. All pleas to address issues such as anxiety or depression were scoffed at and blown off. She now spends holidays alone. It’s horrible, but not as horrible as having her there. |
Lolol. It’s not your employer or the governments fault if you have no one in your life. I’m guessing there was something wrong with your behavior pre pandemic too. |
