Wide range of schools and the kids I know did a good job of looking for what suited their goals and personalities rather than status.

One that got into several 5% schools. Statistically improbable so I can’t help but be curious.

I don’t believe for a second Langley has six seniors going to Yale.

I’m a Langley parent and I don’t believe that either. I know of one going to Yale and two going to UPenn, as well as the others listed. Of course, there could be more I don’t know about.

I am a Langley parent and I know of at least 3 going to Yale, two of whom are going based on academics, so if 3 more are going based on athletics, then it wouldn't surprise me.

I know who all of the Yale admits are and only 2 are athletic recruits. The others are most definitely going based on stellar academics. Some posters seem unwilling to admit/believe that, however.

I think at least one of the Yale admits is a legacy though (I think)? Not to denigrate the kids at all - the kid I’m thinking of is incredibly bright and more than qualified to be admitted to Yale, it may just be indicative of the fact that any going helps move the bar on what is a lottery for even the most talented kids.

It’s just statistically improbable and these acceptances were part of early decision which is when a lot of recruits get in.

So are there really 6 kids going to Yale from Langley this year? That would be better than sidwell.

At least 5, yes. Not to detract from the accomplishment but to be fair, there are 400 kids in Langley’s graduating class and maybe 100 at Sidwell?

Don’t know what to tell you. And how do you know whether those acceptances were ED or not? Again: only two of these students are athletes.

Still very impressive. I only saw the Langley instagram and stumbled upon this forum only because someone had blasted Langley against Chantilly college admissions. It appears that Langley does indeed have better college admissions.

I also see a Dartmouth, few Penns, NYUs, Georgetowns and many UMich, UVA, VT, W&M admissions.

I’m just explaining why that assumption is logical. My kid told me about the 6 Yale acceptances in the fall, so that would be ED. It doesn’t matter, it’s just so shocking and that’s one way it makes a little more sense. Honestly, I thought it was a case of “telephone” and assumed it was unintentionally exaggerated. Good for them regardless.

Actually 8 students from Langley got offers from Yale this year.

I am surprised that Yale accepted so many students from one school.

$$$ talks, bruh.

Yale does not have ED, only SCEA. Congrats to these kids. Anyone want to share what exactly stellar academics from Langley looks like?

This is public school. The kids aren’t that rich. I’m not saying they are poor but not everyone is rich.

How do you suppose this supposed money got them into Yale?
