Is UVA significantly better than VT?

Doggonit, I think you might be onto something here.

What majors, though? Not every kid will major in CS or Engr

Yes. If early career pay is what you are interested in, you have to compare (if possible) major to major rather than school to school. Schools with a high percentage of engineering graduates, like Georgia Tech, for instance, have higher overall average pay than otherwise comparable schools with a lower percentage of engineering graduates. This is because engineers tend to have relatively high starting salaries. If you look at major to major, though, there may be no advantage at all.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but you may be on to something.

UVA is clearly “better” for everything other than engineering, especially in the humanities, languages, and the social sciences, but I don’t think it matters all that much in the real word. And even though VT’s engineering programs are “better” I don’t think that matters either.

Except for engineering, though, you don’t see a lot of cross-admits choosing Tech over UVA.

My siblings all went to VT and are more professionally successful than me. But I was always smarter and got better grades. Lol!

Tell me you went to UVA, without telling me you went to UVA.

Pre-med?

Tech. Definitely.

I studied Immunology there. Tech is better for sciences.

Well, unless you also studied at UVA, you don’t actually know that Tech is better. Right?

+1. This could be said about every one of the DCUM which college is better threads, and about the college rankings in general. The biggest single factor by a wide margin in the USNWR rankings is peer assessment, a subjective opinion college administrators have about other colleges. Hot take: they don’t know bupkis about 99% of the other colleges other than their last USNWR ranking.

DP. Do you even hear yourself? All of you absurd UVA boosters claiming UVA is better - you haven’t attended both schools either. Spare us all.

Their point was valid, though.

Yes - and it’s valid throughout this discussion.

I think this thread was started by a bored VirginiaTech student on a Tuesday night. UVA and VT are sports rivals that would also explain the sock-puppets go at the beginning of the thread

UVA is a horrible school founded by a racist slave owner. It is attended by privileged Greek people that have not worked or earned anything in their life.

Nope, just giving truth. UVA is a bunch of privileged white people parading as smart kids, useless southern bow tie wearing losers, you know this.
