Recommendations for date night restaurant in DC

Annabelle in Dupont is delicious, fits the steak/seafood bill, is pretty fancy without being absurdly expensive, and is in Dupont so close enough to VA.

Rooster and Owl is also good and not much further into DC.

It’s hard to come by good Italian in the dmv honestly. Rasika is a good date night spot but it doesn’t fit the bill. Fiola mare fits the bill but it’s realllly expensive and honestly ….. to the original point it’s just hard to find good Italian for the price you pay. Dabney also very good date night spot

Go to the Wharf or Georgetown

I scoffed when I read this but after reading OP's posts, I've now concluded this is probably best. They are close to NoVa, aren't in the "tough" areas and are touristy. Sounds like it's what OP is looking for although good restaurants are REALLY hard to come by in those areas.

Stick with the mainstays - Rasika, Centrolina, etc.

My favs include: 7 reasons, rooster and Owl, and of course, Kinship.

OP here - thanks for the recommendation. Let me clarify we are NOT looking for touristy restaurants; those are easy enough to find. That is why I responded the way I did to the Palm. My question about the St. Anselm neighborhood was more from unfamiliarity than any fear of crime; I think an abundant number of posters have replied to that, and that restaurant is still in consideration.
