Recommendations for date night restaurant in DC

Anonymous
DH and I have a rare night to ourselves. Would like to go to a place that serves a NY strip, possibly mixed with Italian or Seafood that is not in the heart of the touristy areas downtown. Thanks!

Steak and seafood - St. Anselms

Steak and Italian - The Palm

The Palm is a bit too touristy. We looked at St. Anselm and are considering but are unsure of the neighborhood (we’d be coming in from VA).

Oh my. Perhaps you should stay out in VA.

Italian + 1 steak on the menu: Al Dente on New Mexico. Plus their desserts are really good.

Seafood plus possible steak options: Black Salt on MacArthur.

Both easily accessible from VA without venturing too far into DC.

Please keep the snark to yourself. We’ve been in DC many times and actually work there. Just haven’t been out in a while due to small kids and COVID.

Agree. Stay in your "safe" VA suburb

Joe's Seafood and Steak ... get a booth in the dining room.

Why? There are plenty of restaurants in that area.

Ok that’s fine but St Anselm is in Union Market which is bougie as hell. You can park within a block and there are several good options for drinks before if you want. Plus the food is really good.

It’s just not clear to me why you’d bother coming into DC if this neighborhood bothers you. NoVa has plenty of great restaurants. The city does have more crime and poverty. If that scares you, maybe you are better off staying out.

+1

OP, there’s no need to explain yourself to these d*cks.

So you’re nervous about a neighborhood that has a lot of restaurants and bars? 🤔

Or is it because it’s NE?

That’s not how the internet works, dear.

OP I hear you. I have a wife and four kids to be responsible for - I'm not taking the risk of going to dangerous parts of DC no matter how many Karens try to shame me for it. Personally, I think most of the best restaurants in DC are downtown. I'm not a huge Italian lover but if I had to pick, Modena or Sfoglina.

Haha you guys are ridiculous about Union Market, but your loss.
