Once the improved selection criteria at TJ kicks in LB won't stand a chance.

I think LB is just built different this year.

My apologies. I have dealt with both. Neither are a huge deal at TJ.

What, if anything, is a huge deal at TJ?

This is just more proof that the old admission policy just wasn't working. It was so gamed that many of the best and brightest who don't spend thousands on prep are overlooked and end up at regular schools while only wealthy and over prepped get into TJ these days.

Elite college admissions, Homecoming, I-Nite.

The competitions are not that big a deal because 1) there are so damn many of them so TJ’s talent base gets spread out incredibly thin and 2) TJ students get way more into competing with each other than they do with competing with other schools.

Please. What a poor and untruthful excuse.

Excuse for what?

This is a great example of why I've been saying for years that TJ should bring in a greater number of students from the middle school program at LBSS. Their students are almost always some of the most well-rounded and well-adjusted at TJ and their parents tend to be supportive of all areas of the school. They contribute a great deal to the overall school environment and it's refreshing to see them get a win like this.

Um, okay. If the students best suited to compete in this competition for TJ did so, this wouldn't have happened.

The pandemic and new admission policy have made the new students not really the traditional TJ students. Plus, the die hard science students at TJ do not do Science Olympiad, they do the math, Chem, bio

Pretty sure the kids who did Science Olympiad for TJ weren’t freshmen. So the question of the Admissions process isn’t relevant here.

A look at the list of TJ clubs suggests this is not an excuse.

Popular (competitive) STEM clubs at TJ:

Math team
Physics team
Chemistry Olympiad
Biology Olympiad
Advanced + intermediate Computer team
CyberPatriot
Science Olympiad

Probably missing some but they're what come to mind, ppl also do non-competitive clubs for computer science or independent research
