Where?

It's a local Manassas area chain. The best location is the one in Manassas but you are probably too chicken to go there so try Bristow.

I’m really confused…are people “too chicken” to go to Manassas?

Whenever I mention it to DCUM types they mention how dangerous it is and how I should never go there alone, what a sh!thole etc etc. I actually really like it here but I always get an earful of crap about it.

I find this doubtful.

I really don’t understand the 2Amys hype. Have you been there in the last 3-4 years? Soggy watery pizza. Seriously, like a pool of lukewarm water isn’t he center of my pizza.

Now I live far from NY, and make my own pizza using naan from Trader Joe's. It's good in a different way.

Reading this thread is reinforcing my belief that you can’t get good pizza in this area, assuming OP is in the DMV. I am from NJ and never could imagine not liking pizza until I moved to MD. Although our options here have vastly improved in the last 15-20 years, mediocre pizza is still not worth it. We also make our own.

Agreed. It really just isn't as good here. We make our own unless we're short on time or feeding a really big group, in which we just don't expect much and order Domino's or Pizza Boli's or something. I think places that cook Neapolitan style are our best options, but that's not great for takeout, it is better very fresh.

As far as homemade sauce - we've transitioned to just using canned crushed tomatoes with some herbs sprinkled on top.

I SO miss the pizza that was available in our neighborhood pizzeria when I grew up in the suburbs of NY.

Religion is the right word for it!

Does anyone really "like" lettuce? Or is it just the salad as a whole? I mean, no one eats lettuce by itself, right?

Great pizza is only good at the place it is served. The steam from the box and commute home ruins it. That said, even great pizza is pretty meh.

I'm from that area too. The best I have found around here are Andy's, Slice Joint, and Wiseguys. They're not perfect, but they scratch the itch for NY style pizza. For Neopolitan style, Pupatella and Il Canale are solid.

I love lettuce. Raw, dressed, sautéed, in soups, grilled, and in smoothies.

I like pretty much all pizza, including Domino’s and Little Caesar’s, except Totino’s party pizza, which I don’t think is an actual food product.

We make homemade pizza twice a month or so with a high hydration dough that ferments for three days or pinsa. In pre-pandemic times we liked Menomale and Pizza Paradiso if we were meeting people out. Pizza delivery is pretty abysmal in DC, but we have ordered from Italian Kitchen and Carpe Diem and it's fine. NY/NJ pizza is meh, best pizza outside of Italy that I have had is in New Haven.
