| I was never a fan of pizza, it's greasy and I don't like pepperoni, the crust is too thick or too thin and usually soggy and then yesterday, I made one from scratch. Homemade crust, homemade sauce and covered in all the toppings I like. It was delicious! I still don't get why people like all that other dreck, but I DO get why people like good pizza now! |

| That's okay. I don't really understand why people like lettuce. |

| Slow 👏🏽 |
| “All that other dreck” is how you describe pizza not made by you? |

I am from NY. Pizza is basically my religion, behind Judaism if not right next to it. I grew up folding a paper towel into quarters and blotting my slice to get the oil off. And we were never a pepperoni family at all. It was never soggy.
Now I live far from NY, and make my own pizza using naan from Trader Joe's. It's good in a different way. |

| Well I am surprised you were so successful with your very first pizza. It took me several tries with different dough recipes before I got it just right. But NOW .. I am planning to make several batches, keep dough balls in the freezer, pizza anytime!! At least, anytime I can wait for it to thaw. |
| OP please share your pizza recipes. Thanks. |

1) People are lazy. Homemade pizza dough plus homemade sauce planning, a lot of time, and is messy. Even if homemade tastes better, most pick up pizza because they don’t feel like dealing with the cooking and cleanup of homemade.
2) Portion limits. When I make homemade pizza, I can only fit so much dough in my mixer and can only cook 2 pizzas at a time. They don’t cook super quick either since my oven doesn’t get hotter than 450. So pretty much, when I make pizza, it is only enough to feed the 5 of us. Larger group, I would order pizza. |
Reading this thread is reinforcing my belief that you can’t get good pizza in this area, assuming OP is in the DMV. I am from NJ and never could imagine not liking pizza until I moved to MD. Although our options here have vastly improved in the last 15-20 years, mediocre pizza is still not worth it. We also make our own. |
| Really? I have made homemade pizza a lot of times and I just found it kind of blah. I mean it's ok but by no means did I think it was the greatest. This is likely due to my mediocre baking skills and ingredients. I guess it was a step up from frozen pizza though so there is that. |
| Just not my thing - even in NJ/NY or home made. |
Agree completely!! I’ve made every type of homemade pizza dough, everything except buy those special ovens, and homemade pizza is almost comically underwhelming. So you put some sauce and cheese on some dough and it was a revelation? Slow 👏🏼 indeed. Give me a blistered pie from Two Amy’s, Pizzeria Inferno, or a great Italian pizza from Napoli and now we’re talking. Never been a fan of NY style pizza, literally dont know what the fuss is about. I’m glad it’s some of yours’ religion but Things that make you go hm. Also: LEDOS PIZZA IS MY GUILTY PLEASURE I ADORE It!! |
