Clicking a button on many posts is a big deal for me.

This change has added friction to DCUM use for some people, like me and the PP, while reducing friction for others. As a casual but too-frequent DCUM browser, who posts very occasionally but, I like to think, thoughtfully, here's how it's affecting me: I'm still reading DCUM too much, but when I see that button on a lot of posts in a thread, I stop reading it, and either go somewhere else on DCUM or get back to what I should be doing. Same! I’m a phone user and the hiding quotes is AMAZING. When I want to see a complete group of quotes, clicking the button is easy and only needs to happen once.

It would be nice if there was a button at the top that had soemthign like "collapse all" to give no quotes and just see the replies, "expand all" to give the full threads like the old method, and maybe "show last" to give only the last reply.

I may be in the minority but I enjoy reading through some longer threads but reading through (even loading) the quotes gets excessive when there's a single post that's very often quoted. We (I) can normally use context clues to figure out who is being replied to.

The expand all / collapse all option would (might) also satisfy those who don't want to click expand on every post on every page.

Just a thought.
