You are close to menopause.

Really? My gym did not think so but I haven’t had hormone levels tested.

Yup - me too. 52, period coming every 14-18 days most of the time. Had one month where it was 32 days which got me hoping it was done but now back to the short cycle. Also, pattern used to be predictable - heavy start, quick drop off, and now its all over the place. PMS worse than before too.

H, my name is NP and can I pull up a chair? I am on day 9 of a period. Ugh. Usually over by day 5-7 day. This period is also weird because it was 4 days late.

I am 44. Is this perimenopause?

Are horrible cramps part of peri menopausal periods or could this be because of a fibroid?

Based on the posts in this thread, it seems like anything goes!

I stopped getting PMS, cramps, and sore breasts all together over the last year or so (I'm 49), but my periods are longer (8-9+ days), closer together (24-25 days) and include multiple gross heavy days.

OP (and everybody), The Menopause Manifesto by Dr. Jenn Gunter is an awesome book. Chock full of science and reassurance. I'm about halfway through it and think everyone who menstruates should read it.

Fibroids can make perimenopause worse. From one who knows.

Ugh, it's awful. I'm 47. I had my period three times in six weeks. Then nothing for four months. Then, this week on Monday, it's like I have months of uterine lining to shed. I'm afraid to leave the house - but it was my first day back in the office in a year, conveniently. Going to the bathroom is a horror flick. I've found these 16" long pads. I'm grateful my bath towels aren't white. I hate not knowing whether I'll be bleeding when I go to an out of town wedding in two weeks.

I'm ready to be D-O-N-E.

To the 47 year old, get on birth control pills.
