It’s probably nothing, but since it was almost two years, I’d make and appointment with the doctor. Some post-menopausal bleeding can be signs of a problem.

It could be bad, please see a ob gyn...

I've had a uterus cancer that started this exact same way.

53 here. I had heavy periods for a year. After that wonky periods for six months and then no period for a year. I’m in a great place right now.

I'm 53 also and waiting for this to finally happen for me! I'm still in the phase of heavy periods and lots of the other issues PPs have mentioned. So ready to be completely done!

But Wait! There's More!

Heavy flow, short period, long period. Lots and lots of surprise periods. Mood swings, night sweats, and hot flashes. Depression. Short-tempered.

Weight gain, skin changes, and, my personal favorite, the hair on your legs migrates up to your face!

It varies for everyone, from few minor symptoms to full-blown crazy. Take to your doctor and talk to your friends about what they're experiencing -- It helps.

Oh, and don’t forget the constant warnings all over the internet and from docs and ‘well meaning friends’ telling you it could be cancer! Because a hormonal woman needs fear on top of it all.

And there it is. I didn’t read the whole thread before I posted and sure enough, here’s the ‘thoughtful’ person coming on shoveling fear, and not using the proper term for the disease

One thing you can do, OP, is get an ultrasound done at the tail end of a bleed. I avoided a lot of unnecessary testing doing that.

I used to feel this way. Then my closest friend became officially post-menopausal at 44. She has gained over 50 pounds, her mental and physical health have fallen apart, and she is frequently mistaken for a man. She has always been disinterested in her appearance and shunned femininity, yet she is devastated at how much she's changed. It's a frustrating time, but after seeing what menopause has done to her, I'm grateful that the periods are still coming, however irregularly.

Have you had a Covid vaccine or booster recently? My period was affected after every shot, and I know of some post menopausal women who got a period after getting vaxed.

Not op but this is what happened to me too. I was 55yo and had gone ten months without periods, got the booster and my periods have restarted. I thought it was some terrible disease so I went to the doctor. She took it seriously, did a sono and a biopsy and everything came back negative. She said it was probably the booster and that they've been seeing this but don't understand the connection yet.

I'm currently dealing with this. I got my period after a 36 day cycle and I know I did not ovulate b/c I can always tell. I am now going on day 11 of bleeding My two friends who have just finished completely were like oh that happened once in a while- long periods of bleeding. It's frustrating b/c it's just enough to need a liner and def still there. I Amy call gyn for apt if it keeps on for a few more days to make sure I am not dealing with a fibroid or something more.

I just got off the phone with GYN and have a virtual visit next week b/c I am on day 13 of bleeding and I am freaking out. I am 48.5 and have started having weird cycles since about 46. This last period came after 36 days and was lighter than usual but still def period type bleeding but no cramps. Slowed to almost gone but then continued to spot from day 6-11 and now here we are day 12 and back to bright red fresh bleeding...def anxious to see the doctor.
