Perimenopause periods?

If you are under 50, go on BC.

Why not go on bc if you’re 50+? Sincerely curious.

I used to feel this way. Then my closest friend became officially post-menopausal at 44. She has gained over 50 pounds, her mental and physical health have fallen apart, and she is frequently mistaken for a man. She has always been disinterested in her appearance and shunned femininity, yet she is devastated at how much she's changed. It's a frustrating time, but after seeing what menopause has done to her, I'm grateful that the periods are still coming, however irregularly.

I think this is a worst-case scenario/outlier (being mistaken for a man, falling apart in every aspect of life). None of the elders in my family experienced this after menopause. It’s no walk in the park, but your example is extreme.

I am taking the advice and seeing a doctor about BC pills. I am going on week two of my period this time. Really how can a body go on doing that for 14 days....don't you run out of fluid at some point especially if it's really heavy. Everything about this is just obnoxious.

To the PP who asked why you cant go on BCP when you are over 50, I was told that doctors don't prescribe BCP for the over 50 crowd. It is a higher amount of estrogen than HRT.

For me, it makes me depressed and causes weight gain. I already feel that way. Not into exacerbating that.

Well on the other end I am 52 and still getting it like clockwork. Tend to be longer 10-14 days but haven't skipped a month. 😒

I haven’t had a period in three months. First time skipping. Want to cry often. Hormones are jerks.

Long story, but BC is not an option for me. What else can I do that will actually help?

I am 50 and haven’t missed a period but my cycles keep getting shorter! I have been at 23 days for a while ( down from 31 and then 26) but today my period came at day 17! And they last 10 or more days.

You are close to menopause.

I’m trying a progesterone cream but right now all it seems to do is make me even more short tempered. 😝
