OP my mother was very much like this most of my life. She would stop talking to me when she didn't like something (similar to what you describe). It took me years to break her of this habit, but I flat out told her that we can talk about what's bothering her like adults or she can leave my house and go home and pout (she lives with me most of the time). I am not putting up with that in my 40s. Not happening.

She still tries but I remind her of my rules. She can either communicate or leave.

I suggest you give her the same ultimatum. Communicate like an adult or she doesn't have a relationship with you.
