I gave myself nightmares reading Verity then The Push too close together - but maybe it’s your preferred genre!

NP. It's my preferred genre. Please recommend more nightmare educing reads.

If those two books are your jam, you should read Baby Teeth. Also, if you aren't opposed to a book with every trigger warning you can think of, I recommend Whispers and the Roars by K. Webster. It's one of the most f'ed up books I've ever read but in the very best way.

Thanks! I've read Baby Teeth.

I'm all about the most F'd up books. My life is super boring so triggering books are how I get my excitement. I'm downloading it on my Kindle now.

Oh! And another one - have you read Little Darlings by Melanie Golding?

Last: Beautiful Ruins (loved it!)

Currently (but struggling with it): The Overstory

Next: I saw the news about Dr. Paul Farmer on Twitter. I had never heard of him but people are devastated so I’m thinking about reading the book about him that another poster also mentioned above. Mountains Beyond Mountains.

They made this exact topic into an entire movie.

LOVE that you started this, OP!

Last: Never, by Ken Follett. With all his books, I find them a little dull but am in awe of the perfectly crafted plotting and attention to detail.

Current: On Writing Well, by William Zinsler. Absolutely brilliant. Would make a great gift for any writer or word-lover in your life. I recently read Dryer’s English as well and like this one 5x better.

Next: Just started Truly, Madly, Guilty, by Lianne Moriarty. I have mixed feelings about her books, but it was at a Little Free Library and I needed a vacation read.

Current: Alias Grace by Margaret Atwood - Loving it

Next Up: Crying in H-Mart by Michelle Zauner

Crying in HMart is GREAT as an audio book. It’s read by the author.

One of my fave books is about him - Mountains Beyond Mountains by Tracy Kidder.

I just could not stick with The Overstory. I liked all the setup pieces n the beginning, but once the main storyline started it just lost me. I keep seeing it on the bestseller list (at least for the DC area) and wonder what I am missing. But a dear old friend who is also a reader said she had the same experience, so I felt better.

The book is fantastic. Really well-written about a truly extraordinary man. Tremendous loss to us all today. 😢

NP. I’ve never heard of Verity or the Push, but they’re both going on my list! Nightmare-loving PPs, have you read Mexican Gothic? Not for everyone, but I adored it.

Lucy Foley's latest just dropped today: The Paris Apartment. That's on my list to read next.
