Last: The Guncle (4 stars) - cute - I liked it
Current: 50 Shades of Grey (I actually never read it before and it is my February book club book which had romance as the prompt )
Next: I am planning to read The Nightingale next

I also actually read Animal Farm this month. My 7th grader read it for school and I hadn’t read it yet so I read it too. And, my New Years book resolutions are to read at least 2 books a month, read a book I own and I haven’t read yet, read a book my book club read that I missed at the time, and read a classic. I’m going to count Animal Farm as the classic.

I loved Guncle. I'm waiting for it to become a movie with Dan Levy as GUP. Paul Rudd as his brother.

Last: The Night She Disappeared by Lisa Jewell - kind of long, but I really wanted to know what happened, so I kept with it. Really needed a good editing.

Current: Alias Grace by Margaret Atwood - Loving it

Next Up: Crying in H-Mart by Michelle Zauner

Current: 1984 (natch)
Next: Moby Dick

This was my required reading in HS

Current: The Secret Life of Addie Larue
Next: Maus - 8th grader is reading it in school, and I remember hearing/knowing about it as a teen but never actually read it. With the recent controversy, I figured I'd get myself a copy.

What do you think of Addie Larue? I just finished it and was disappointed.

NP - I found it such a frustrating book. I couldn't stand the main character. I found her so dull. It was so repetitive. I wanted more time with Luc - like what's the rest of his life like, when he's not slumming it with that drip Addie?

I just started Lily King's Euphoria. Really liking it so far. Before that I read a silly cozy mystery called Brownies and Broomsticks: A Magical Bakery Mystery - about some witches who run a bakery and have to solve a murder. It was ok - I liked the setting and some of the characters, but the plot fell a little flat. The baked goods all sounded delicious tho.

Oh my gosh please make that happen. Are you listening universe? I really enjoyed Guncle, too.

What are other books you like that feel similar?

Op here. think Dan Levy is confirmed. This is the first I heard about Paul Rudd but that would be great!

Hmm I’ll try to think about what I thought was similar…

Last: Magpie Murders - had heard good things about it, it's going to be on Masterpiece (and is on the Brit streaming services now, I think, Britbox or Acorn?). Really excellent. Clever.

Current: Inferno by Dan Brown. It's terrible but easy to read. Showed up in the local little free library so thought I'd continue the series.

Next: Such a Quiet Place, Megan Miranda - it's a thriller that's mid rated (3.47) on good reads. Going to give it a try but don't expect much. Waited a fairly long time for it at the library, so maybe it'll be better than I'm expecting.

Yay! I was just hoping for Dan Levy and Paul Rudd. I have no knowledge of any actual movie. Those are just the two actors who were in my head while reading.

DP but I was very disappointed by Addie LaRue. I think it was overrated. I found it to be repetitive and too long.

Actually now I am not sure. I’m a in a FB group and they were all saying Dan Levy was confirmed. But just now I tried to Google it myself and I can’t confirm it independently!

I just finished this. I was hoping it was as good as No Exit, but it wasn't. It's good enough, just not great.
