Current: The Secret Life of Addie Larue
Next: Maus - 8th grader is reading it in school, and I remember hearing/knowing about it as a teen but never actually read it. With the recent controversy, I figured I'd get myself a copy.

What do you think of Addie Larue? I just finished it and was disappointed.

DP but I was very disappointed by Addie LaRue. I think it was overrated. I found it to be repetitive and too long.

I’m the first pp who said it was disappointing. I’d rate it a 2 or so.

I gave myself nightmares reading Verity then The Push too close together - but maybe it’s your preferred genre!

Sort of book related: I was very sorry to hear that Dr. Paul Farmer died today.

One of my fave books is about him - Mountains Beyond Mountains by Tracy Kidder.

February book club books:
Somebody's Daughter by Ashley C. Ford.
The Mothers by Brit Bennett
Pony by R.J. Palacio (middle grade book club)
The Count of Monte Cristo (a group of us are reading this on a schedule and discuss every other week. I think we're scheduled it finish in October)

Last: Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo
Current: Pony by R.J. Palacio
Next: Hairpin Bridge by Taylor Adams

I just finished this. I was hoping it was as good as No Exit, but it wasn't. It's good enough, just not great.

I was worried about that. I tend to be picky about thrillers and I devoured No Exit!!

If those two books are your jam, you should read Baby Teeth. Also, if you aren't opposed to a book with every trigger warning you can think of, I recommend Whispers and the Roars by K. Webster. It's one of the most f'ed up books I've ever read but in the very best way.

Thanks! I've read Baby Teeth.

I'm all about the most F'd up books. My life is super boring so triggering books are how I get my excitement. I'm downloading it on my Kindle now.

Last: The Glass Hotel, by Emily St. John Mandel. Didn't love it. I thought Station Eleven was much better.

Current: The Dogs of Riga, a murder mystery by Henning Mankell (Book #2 of the Kurt Wallander series). I'm really into Scandinavian noir lately.

Next: The White Lioness, book #3 in the Kurt Wallander series. Or, if someone returns their copy to the library soon, The Maid by Nita Prose.
