Another candidate in Ward 3: Ben Bergmann tells Axios he's filing candidacy this morning. He is chair of ANC 3D and an attorney, former elementary school teacher, and DCPS parent.

Anyone who has "progressive democrat, faculty brat" in their Twitter bio automatically loses my vote, sorry Ben! Blue cities needs to start reading the room, for god sakes. |

GGWash board chair decides against running, probably because there is zero chance anyone associated with GGWash would win in Ward 3.

| And....no one know who she is. |
I've lived in DC proper for 29 years and W3 for nine. The only person I've heard of among those who allegedly are running is Frumin. |
| It sounds like Phil Thomas of the Ward 3 Dems, will be the next one to enter the race. |
+1 - and he is a good guy with a lot of experience across the Ward. |

Tricia Duncan is the first candidate to achieve the Fair Elections donor threshold:

I guess the empty suit constituency needs representation too. |
| Can't wait for someone who gets only around 1200 votes in a nine-person race to become a city leader. |
She is the first one to announce it Others have already reached and of course, Cheh reached it too. |
That might be one reason. But the bigger reason is her responsibility for the mismanagement of Metro as a Board member. When given an actual job with responsibility, turns out what we all suspected is that those GGWash folks are pretty incompetent. She wouldn’t want that to become a campaign issue. Incompetent WMATA Board member should not be a spring board to elective office. |
That’s only because he has name recognition as a serial losing candidate. |
He's also been pushing DCPS to do something -- anything -- about DCPS overcrowding in Ward 3, going to back to before the Ellington renovation when he pushed DCPS to move it to a more logical, central location and reopen that building as a general high school. That's going to go a long way with W3 voters, many of whom are DCPS parents. |
+1 Ellington should have been moved to Shaw or co-located with Cardozo as Frumin proposed. It would have solved a lot of issues. |
