UMich's president was just FIRED (board caught him having an affair with UMich employee)

Anonymous
The board claims an anonymous email led to this. They weren’t seeking to fire him. They literally just gave him a multi-million dollar golden parachute which kept him on as faculty I believe.

That’s true. The main reason for that was would be a smooth transition to a new president. Believe me, he wasn’t going to leave the presidency voluntarily a year early unless there were some major incentives. Now I’m not even sure that he will get any benefits since they fired him for cause.

He might have been okay had he disclosed it to the board and HR. But likely he kept it covert bc of his marriage. Consensual had nothing to do with, it’s the fact that it is a boss subordinate relationship, he is in a position of power over her and has the opportunity and ability to give her preferential treatment (bonus, promotions, raises) and for this reason most organizations have policy around this type of relationship. When it was found out I’m sure the ethics committee had no choice but to term him.

The wife was the tipster...she will dump his sorry ass.

She has no interest in him losing millions and being publicly humiliated herself.
This is surely either someone else who wanted the subordinate’s job or a Linda Tripp type fake friend.

LOL that you think “consent” is the operative word in this scenario.

One of the more viral emails was inviting the mistress over to his house, telling her to retrieve a pizza order two blocks from the president's official on-campus mansion. So, I'm guessing he and the wife are actually separated? Another email said he was lonely. Again, seeming to suggest the wife was living elsewhere.

Insulting. Cottage Inn isn't even that good anymore.

It's obvious the subordinate was the tipster

Wrong direction. I heard he was partial to Pizza House.

That explains it then. They were looking for an excuse to fire him. No wonder they did it in such a trashy way.

The Board wouldn't have cared one bit about an affair with an employee if they liked him...

I mean, one of the reasons the Board was displeased with him is that he'd covered up for and protected a predatory administrator. I'm not going to lose any sleep crying over this situation.

Why did you put “fired” in all caps?

Even if the affair were consensual he is opening up the University to legal trouble when the woman feels scorned and seeks revenge. Irresponsible on so many levels.

Or, perhaps it was Joe's he was after.

Could have been the pizza restaurant. If I worked there I’d find it pretty weird the President was having some woman who’s not his wife pick up his food on a weekend night. He put her name in the to-go instructions like a dope.
