Oh look. The PR director is still awake. |
So tiresome. Every critique of a non-white person is not racist, nor is every critique of a woman misogynistic. She can't handle this job. Period. |
+1 Before WWII, Churchill was widely regarded as a mid-tier d*ck. Only when WWII started, and people started to panic did he really step up and make great decisions. The same can be said of many great leaders - they're not the type of folks you want babysitting your kids, but when the chips are really down (life or death down), their true abilities emerge. I've seen this pattern over and over again. Resources in DC are given to the connected, not the competent who listen to the teachers on the line. Its a shame, really. |

MCPS has failed spectacularly this week. I’ve rarely seen this level of miscommunication and dysfunction anywhere!
We spent so much time and money standing up a virtual platform and now won’t even open it up for families who want it when the pandemic is at its worst. Unbelievable! |
Not a chance. Under Jack Smith, my kid was virtual for over a year. At least Dr. McKnight has tried to keep our kids in school. When she realized the 5% threshold wasn’t working correctly, she adjusted course. She is doing better than Smith, IMO. I’ll take her any day over Smith. Your criticisms show your racist tendencies, sorry. |
Which facts are those? Fox news style? Q style? |
LOL Actually I’m a parent who has been very vocal about criticizing MCPS. Sexual assault coverups? Ridiculous SEL lessons? I have complained loud and often. But how can y’all blame this on Dr. McKnight? She’s given advice from the County Health Department. The same ridiculous County Health Dept that made us close outdoor playgrounds last year when surface transmission was known not to be an issue. Blame the incompetency of the DHHS staff. This is not on McKnight. |
DP. You're admitting a failed policy changed just a few days after it was set? This wasn't even about race, it was about bad decision-making. Sorry but your own racial tendencies are showing. |
No one can handle the job in a way that makes everyone happy. That's why supers are quitting all over the US. |
McKnight, not anyone from DHHS, makes the decision what to do at MCPS. McKnight made the call. She owns it. |
I give her a ton of credit on the pivot. I can see where her head was at with the color-coded stuff, but that's a 2020 strategy not in alignment with the rest of the region/nation. A pivot back to normal couldn't have been easy, but it was the right decision. Communications have been a bit rough, but a good leader knows when it's time to pull the plug on something that's not going to work vs. doubling down on it. |
Sorry but that's where you're wrong. Go speak to a medical worker on the front-lines. It is not normal. Wish it was, but that's inconsistent with the hospitalization numbers. A good leader will see the consequences of their own actions, not double-down on bad ones. |
+1000 |
Exactly. Would you rather she double down on a strategy that is clearly not working? |
Well, a smart leader would not draw a bright red line and paint him or herself into a corner. |
