She had her chance. I guess you didn't see her recent YouTube videos where you can hear what her favorite subject in school was? |
Ever wonder why you can vote for any board of education member in MC? If you have enough voters from Germantown and Silver Spring, you can pretty much cast enough votes to overwhelm other districts. You should only be able to vote for YOUR OWN DISTRICT!! |
Oh stop whining. Quite a few companies/organizations that require in person staff have been short staffed. Macy's, Giant, Montgomery County Ride-on bus system, etc are all short staffed. We are in the midst of a pandemic. Dr. McKnight is not a miracle worker. And you will be one of those complaining about tax increases. Go campaign for her job. Let's see what you are made of. |
This is quite melodramatic. |
Nope, I am neither. She is doing her job. She made a decision and had to pivot when the state said otherwise. Y’all just don’t like it. But she is doing her job. We’re all anxious about omicron. I know I am. But we’ll get through this with Dr McKnight. I’d personally like to see active cases (staff and students) and quarantined cases (staff and students) updated daily on the dashboard. Cumulative cases would also be nice. Then we can see if the county should think about moving an individual school to virtual. All the kids at our MS are coming home with a test on Monday. We need more screening like that. I think we’re on the right track. |
At what cost? It's one thing to do well.. the question is what collateral damage is caused during her tenure? You say, "I’d personally like to see active cases (staff and students) and quarantined cases (staff and students) updated daily on the dashboard" - well guess what - that's exactly what she promised to do and then three days later flipped like a pancake when the numbers didn't go her way so it's not on record exactly how many schools were red and is waiting for the numbers to drop before republishing. Why? Because she truly believed that the schools would never be at 5%? Why? Precisely because of her lack of judgement and medical knowledge. Anyone with proper training would have known the Omicron math was against her (and it was posted up on DCUMS at one time not too long ago). This means that this outcome of red across the board was completely predictable and, no, she's not basing squat on science. How many children will be hospitalized during her tenure? How many families will lose someone in the process? How much more load will doctors and hospitals have in the meantime, and will that be enough to be the straw that broke the camel's back? Doctors, nurses, and technicians are already struggling with their mental health. All-or-nothing, no hybrid or virtual? Is she thinking of her teachers at all? This is what happens when people like you are complacent and throw up your hands "oh, this must be the right track". No, it's not. This is the worst possible road we can be following during a pandemic. Why? What makes you think that Omicron is the last variant? What will happen if another worse variant comes and the school entrenches in their stubborn and destructive policies- "we got through Omicron so this one won't be any different"? People like you are part of the problem. |
MoCo is one of the most vaccinated and masked counties in the country. Our cases will be mild. |
Freudian slip as to what your real concerns are (instead of saying "hospitals", you said "Macy's", "complaining about tax increases")? I don't think you made a strong point there. |
PP, I have worries like that too, but I also know masking, vaccines/boosters, and lots of testing/quarantines work from a public health perspective. Transparency always helps. More support for teachers and staff would clearly also help. This is so hard for all of us. But really, we’re going to get through it. We have to be resilient and so do the kids. |
It's clear you don't understand what was written. Hospitals and medical workers are suffering from extreme fatigue. What would you do if, say, they just stop showing up to work? Don't think it will happen? Humans are not robots. All people (including teachers) have a limit. MCPS is testing it by playing chicken with a virus that doesn't know about politics, opinion polls - it just knows that it finds a host and replicates.. and replicates.. and replicates. And the more stupid the people are, the more hosts it has to do this. People like you are part of the problem. |
|
Ok PP. I get it. Yes, I understand how hard people are working.
I also think that our strongest, bravest people go into these fields. I’m grateful every day they go to the danger. Somehow I still think we’re going to be ok. Not perfect, but ok. |
You gave people in charge too many credits. Do you think she herself will or be able to analyze the situation and make a competent prediction of the outcome of her policy? The problem is the stup!d people who advise her. |
This ! |
Wholeheartedly agree! This is a great summary!! |
| I usually defend the administrators and give them the benefit of the doubt, but this week has been incredibly disappointing. They aren't even trying to make sound decisions nor treat their teachers and students and families with any respect. |
