This is true. They don’t care about childcare issues, nor do most employers. We had the option to bring our school age kids to work with us but as all of you working parents know, it’s difficult to work with your kids there and we need to teach. No, most FCCPS teachers do not live in the district and while we don’t complain it is a consideration for some of us if we want to stay here for the duration of our careers. |
Do you think the rest of us who still had to work outside the home enjoyed scrambling for childcare for our kids for 3/4 of the school year last year while school was virtual? But once again teachers’ childcare needs are prioritized while everyone else is just left high and dry. |
As a working parents scrambling for childcare, you must also not want to scramble in the morning if they didn’t announce until 5:30. You would not know when you went to bed tonight if school was opening on time, delayed or cancelled. 5:30am announcements are not good for parents either. |
