What questions did you want to ask him?

You must realize that Fairfax County covers a much larger and geographically different region than the 2 miles squared little city that FCCPS covers? And that some of that region is guaranteed to get snow tomorrow or just isn't able to get kids to school with even a small amount of snow because they are still rural?

FCCPS closed 1/4.

FCCPS is closed tomorrow (Monday) as well.

Yes FCCPS residents love to pretend that the school district is so unique and agile to justify that they are paying way too much for small older homes. We unfortunately bought into the hype and have sorely regretted it.

You should move then. You’ll have no trouble selling your house.

Wonder how many positives they got from the drive thru....

The Little City is too small to handle snow removal. 2-hour delay tomorrow, and I wouldn't be surprised if they cancel. This isn't a knock on the hard-working Public Works and other staff - they're definitely doing their best!

All other neighboring districts are closed. Interesting to see if FCCPS will be able to open with a delay.

They probably will and 90% of the staff will be royally pissed because they live in areas where the roads are still bad and/or their own kids are off. FCCPS is notorious for not giving a crap about those issues. Sometimes they say they consider it but for many years clearly it's low priority vs trying to impress the residents. NEWS FLASH: If every other nearby school district is off FCC parents don't really expect to have school that day, and some of them even care about the safety and welfare of the staff.

+1. The roads may be clear in town and FCCPS is so small but today is one more reason I need to look in my own district for next year. I don’t live there.

FCCPS family here and I'm really grateful that we had a testing drive thru on Sunday, the results on Tuesday, kids actually went to school Weds (w/ a delay that was reasonable) and today). Every other district was closed all week. The disctrict is really trying to open and to do so safely so I give them a lot of credit for being responsive. I hope that the staff are feeling supported as well, as every family I know is so grateful to them.

I am curious about the results from Sunday as well. I saw that 686 people were tested (inlcuding my kids).

I don’t understand why fccps closed for tomorrow. The announced plan of making the call at 530 based on actual road conditions was a much better one. I can see a delay but the closure seems ridiculous right now.

You think FCC teachers would enjoy scrambling for what do with their FCPS and APS kids at 5:30 am? It was hard enough for them the last two days. Not everyone has a spouse nor do all spouses work from home.

Not to mention not all FCC teachers live in FCC, how would they drive out of their non plowed roads?

At least according to Noonan with the calendar discussion, a significant portion of Fccps teachers live in fcc. As to what to do with kids, cry me a river, this has been our constant struggle over the last year. I have to work tomorrow. Closing bc of ‘childcare issues’ just creates more childcare issues, as well as learning issues, for everyone else.
