The superintendent had a live stream and at the end said he had a call at 9 that would determine if they would close. He almost made it sound like they would, but why play these games? He could have told us that at the beginning of his presentation. That’s why many were watching.

FCCPS has largely been the voice of reason in compared to the insanity of FCPS closing when it rains. I appreciate the fact that they don't close until there is evidence of an actual safety hazard.

Latest forecast is 1-3", FCCPS may end up being the smartest bunch in the area by waiting for a fresher forecast.

Given every other district in NOVA is closed interesting why they are waiting-what will teachers children do?

You did not listen to him tonight, did you? It’s not only about weather. They can’t close because of cases. But he said something at the end that it wouldn’t be a bad thing with the numbers of positives coming in for both staff and students if they were off for one more day. They had their mass testing site today and don’t have results yet either. They have every good reason to close tomorrow and they weather is the excuse they need. There is absolutely no reason to delay and keep parents on staff on edge like this. Parents can keep kids home. Staff don’t have that choice and I feel bad for them.

Have you lived here long? FCCPS rarely closes for snow.

They caved to what the other schools in the region were doing and unnecessarily closed for covid for 6 months last year so not sure why this would prove any different

I couldn’t stand to watch his speech. Did he say anything interesting? Did he take questions? It bothers me that he calls it a ‘town hall’ but doesn’t allow questions. It seems more apt to say ‘I will address the community’

They were the only district fully open twice in November and April, but COVID also isn't snow.

No. You didn’t miss anything. It was a presentation. Same type of stuff about quarantine, exposure, stay home if you are sick and get vaccinated. No questions or call ins.
