Here's a source for majors and investment banking.
It's just a common sense.

Actaully it's surpirsing that history made the list. If you major in history and looking into IB, better go to a good shool and get on top of your class.

$60? Not high starting.

That's a pretty good outcome for psychology

Really? She’s looking at graduate schools.

Graduate school won't do much for psychology.
To make something out of psychology, you would want to get a PhD and become a licensed psychologist.

However the average salary (not starting salary) is below $100K even after becoming a clinical psychologist.

Psychology is pretty popular and a lot of kids major in it.
I wonder about their thought processes and career plans.

This makes sense since people would usually not apply to industries where they think their degrees would not be accepted. So history majors don’t apply to IB therefore the percentage who actually work in IB is low.

How does a history major get into international banking?

I would assume some sort of pedigree is involved.

You mean like a degree from an Ivy? No, not at all.

You got lucky

Don’t be jealous

Econ at Harvard another major that banks like obv

Econ at any Ivy. Friend's daughter did that at Princeton. All the high end banks were falling over themselves to hire these kids. She went with GS.

NP here. I think psychology is a great spring board to lots of graduate programs and fields. No one said she has to be a psychologist or a history major has to be a historian. We’re decade’s ahead of that thinking.

No, pretty much any field. Undergraduate majors don’t determine much. Oddly, DH became a Psychologist (PhD) after majoring in criminal justice. I don’t even know what my nephew majored in but it wasn’t science and he’s a pacemaker/defibrillator tech (goes into surgeries and turns on/tests devise).
