If you can make it past year 2. 90% of people couldn’t.
And 300k isn’t even a lot in nyc.

There are many, many 3rd year investment bankers NOT making 300k, even within the 10% that stay. 200k easily doable in year 3. 300k rarer

Evercore reported its fourth quarter results today. In doing so, it revealed that pay per head for 2021 was close to seven figures on an average basis.

"Evercore employed 1,950 people in 2021, and as Financial News reported, it paid them an average of $948k each. This was 26% more than its average compensation of $755k per head for 2020."

Link didn’t work for me.
This can’t be for new graduates.

How does a history major get into international banking?

I would assume some sort of pedigree is involved.

You mean like a degree from an Ivy? No, not at all.

You got lucky

Not at all. Look into large banks.

NP. This is why the whole “you can’t make money with a liberal arts degree” stuff is so silly. This practice has been common for decades. In many industries, they are looking for qualities (e.g., analytical ability), not specific undergraduate training.

CIA too. According to their recruiting at my kid’s uni, they love history majors.

Not PP but I was a history major in college and my first job was in international banking as well! The big banks have great training programs and generally don’t care what your degree is in. I started in Letters of Credit!

+1. DH is an investment banker at a large bank and his company routinely hires liberal arts majors.

Left off…from Top 20 schools and among those with family connections, right? Unless URM.

Big bum

Stop trolling the college sites, grandma. Go back to your stories on Fox News. You’re just embarrassing yourself.

Why “grandma”? Why do you assume this troll is elderly? Or do you just think “grandma” is an insult? He’s a troll but your ageism is not better.

You mean like a degree from an Ivy? No, not at all.

Then URM, social connection, private university/college, high achiever at high level state school plus luck. In that order.

What is wrong w/ accepting that the initial poster just got the job w/o some special help? Why try to pick their success apart? This a great thread except for you and the person (maybe also you) who was slamming on the start up.

Congrats to all these grads on their successes, thanks to the Peace Corps kid, and hopefully the Accounting grad will find a job soon!

Because that's not the way the world works. I really doubt some white kid from a nothing state school was cherry picked for I-banking, just like that. Honesty & PP isn't sharing anything. BTW there are at least 2 others on this inquiry.

No, but if the kid has hustle, it is definitely possible. And a lot of bankers prefer the humbler kids from middle of the road schools.

Not really. I had an offer from a major bank in the 80s and was a history major. Not an Ivy. No connections.

Let’s stick to 2019 to present, please!

This sounds amazing for a 22 year old! Can I quit my job and come work for them?

Me too! My mom worked for an airline, and I used to go to Hawaii for Spring Break. What a great life experience for a job!

My friend is a single woman without kids, and she's a flight attendant for huge celebrities. She makes around 150K and travels with them and stays where they stay. Her vacations are unbelievable. She used to fly Gordon Getty to see his second family, but she couldn't tell anyone at that time. I know A TON of dirt on who's nasty lol.

Do you know how she got that job?

That story is utter BS. More likely they worked back office.

If you would read the link posted earlier, you would see that is not necessarily the case.
