I don't get the rescue dog push. Many rescue dogs weren't treated well and the owners abandoned/gave them up. We need better screening and not make it so easy for owners to give up the dogs/pets and if they do, they should have to pay for their care/upkeep/boarding until new owners are found.
There is zero chance I'd adopt a rescue. Too many issues. I have/would adopt a child but not a dog. They should require a home study and other things like they do for child adoption. |

| I agree with what another poster posted up thread. Since the good quality dogs from breeders, etc. are often neutered by responsible owners, it’s the unneutered animals from unresponsible owners that are filling the shelters and rescues. This means the calmer dogs with better temperaments are not having puppies and filling the shelters. I have a miniature poodle and when I adopted him from the breeder, I agreed to neuter him. And he would’ve been a perfect dog to breed puppies with because he is an awesome pet. Calm, good temperament, simply delightful |

I don't care where anyone else gets their pets. As long as they take care of the pets they obtain, it isn't my business. I'm glad you love your dog, I really am, but, truth be told, my dog (adopted from a kill shelter) is actually the best dog in the world. You really don't know if the 2nd best dog in the world is waiting there too, so maybe don't discourage people from having a look. |
