27K kids must suffer because of 1 teacher who can be given other alternatives to stay safe. Makes 0 sense, unless you don't prioritize kids getting educated.

DP. It is attitudes like yours that are driving teachers out of the classroom. My family prioritizes teachers' safety over your kid's "getting educated." Because LOL at you saying "other alternatives" without identifying any of them. That's because there are NONE that will satisfy a lazy parent like you. Why on earth do people like you have kids anyway?

Public schools exist to educate kids, not provide paychecks to adults. We just had a governor and local pols who thought the opposite and they’re on their way out. It’s attitudes like yours as to why we have new leadership coming who will be putting kids first.

Public schools are absolutely tasked with educating children (mind and body). School teachers are tasked with ensuring this mission is accomplished. Virtual learning was an unmitigated failure for all students: test scores tanked, mental health plummeted, athletes didn’t progress and social connections were lost. Our children must be educated and not made mentally ill from the process. We accomplish this by staying in real classrooms with teachers and peers…. It’s pretty simple.

And how do you stay in real classrooms with teachers and peers in the middle of a pandemic?

With safety measures in place so that Covid doesn't spread out of control and close schools.

But sadly too many are lobbying to get rid of the very safety measures that are keeping schools open.

We have real tune examples all over the country and world of schools being open fine with no masks, etc.

We have to learn to live with COVID as it’s not going anywhere. The government needs to treat it like it does other illnesses like the flu, which the IFR is similar to now with vaccines for adults (it’s already less than the flu for unvaccinated kids and adults under 40).

If someone in their own personal approach wants to be more cautious/paranoid, no one is stopping them from wearing N95s, etc., just like they can for the flu.

All of you who are saying that teachers should just martyr themselves are dumb as F. You're the parents that teachers hate. You're the parents that no one like. You all suck. We all know you wouldn't last one day as a teacher. We also know you would never be okay if your job treated you the way you all treat your teachers. You all are the scum of the earth.

I am thankful to know that not all APS parents think like you nut jobs. But it scary how many of you post on this site and 100% don't see anything wrong with the hate you spew.

Please tell me what other industries are shutting down because of pregnant women? Do you think pregnant doctors, pharmacists, grocery store workers, etc. are getting paid to work from home in a position that clearly doesn’t work virtually? And I say this as a pregnant woman who has had to go into the office recently while pregnant. My kids continue to go to in-person school. My DH has had to go into the office.

The world isn’t going to shut down for me because I chose to reproduce during a pandemic and I fully knew that going in. It’s frankly psychotic that anyone would suggest we further sacrifice the education of thousands of children because a teacher (who should be fully vaxxed/boosted) may get a virus that I have yet to see a single news article/medical study showing significant increase of risk for vaccinated mothers. Literally the only articles/studies I have read (and I’ve read many as a pregnant person during COVID) show heightened risk of death, stillbirth, etc. for unvaccinated women. If she does not want to do her job, then she can forgo a paycheck like so many others had to do throughout the pandemic who were not given the option of working from home without pay.

^^ Also, I’m sure pregnant teacher would be welcome to wear a KN94/95 mask while teaching.
