In pool email just came

DC in Haycock with NNAT 160. We received the email at 7 pm.

It would be ridiculous for FCPS to send in-pool emails based solely on the NNAT, when the CogAT will also be used to determine pool eligibility. Obviously they have (and have used) the CogAT scores for this process as well.

Any perennial top performing schools send letters tonight? I'm thinking Franklin Sherman, Great Falls ES, Haycock, Canterbury Woods, Waynewood, Mantua, Churchill Road?

Please explain the special norms. I am in one of those schools and have not heard about this yet.

I think the poster meant Springfield Estates Elementary School and has some overblown identity. It’s a school, not a pyramid.

OP 20:39; Springfield Estates ES( SEES) is our level IV center school, our school doesn’t have Level IV.

If the pool cut-off could be lower than 132 for some schools, does that mean it could also be higher than 132 at others? For example, what if the cut-off for the top 10% of scores at some higher-performing schools was 135?

So what? You used the term “pyramid” linked to your elementary school. That’s not how pyramids are identified. There is no such thing as a Springfield Estates pyramid. You’re in the Lewis pyramid because all of the schools feed into Lewis HS.

My understanding is centers still go by (the lower of local or) a county pool. Only casting a wider net not a narrower one.

So what? Will I get arrested by misusing the term “pyramid”? Go take a chill pill!

No, you will be flogged. Next time just let PP’s explanation above stand. No one knows why you posted about your school being a center school and not a Level IV.

I think it’s usually 10% in pool, 2/3 of pool is selected (but many kids not in-pool are also selected).

I wondered about last year's NNAT scores and whether they mis-normed it (or whatever the right statistical error term is!). My kid is also Haycock and scored 159. Kid is bright, but scores like 159 or 160 make me wonder what went wrong with the scoring because I doubt two kids in a class of approximately 100 students could be getting 159 and 160. And this is only the two of us admitting that our kids are 2 graders at Haycock. I wonder how many of these ridiculously high scores there are for those who took the NNAT in April 2021.

(Hopefully the central committee won't connect the dots and scratch their heads and just assume both our kids are super bright. :lol

My kid also got a super high score 152. Older siblings both in aap and scored way lower.
