Tell Me Why You Don't Use Turn Signals

Anonymous
I’m from Maryland and drive a BMW.

What I dislike about turn signals is that some people use them and then automatically think that just because they want to merge into your lane, that you have to slow down to let them in. Don't they know that this isn't always possible and that they should only try to change lanes when it is safe to do so? Many drivers put on their turn signals and immediately start moving into your lane causing you to brake hard.

I'm not obligated to let you in front of me.

Just wait your turn. Why do you feel entitled that your turn signal gives you a free pass to go in front of someone ?

This is not rocket science, morons.

If you are not in a congested crowded area, it's not rocket science.

If you are on 270 or the beltway during rush hour when it's bumper to bumper and people actively cut you off because you are using a turn signal, it's best not to use a turn signal and be able to change lanes for your exit.

I’ve driven rush hour on 270, the Beltway, and major roads in San Francisco, LA, NYC, Baltimore, Detroit, Indianapolis, Dallas, Dublin, London, etc. If you can’t navigate big-girl traffic without using your turn signal—as you legally must and morally should—it’s because you are an incompetent driver.

I learned to drive in downtown Boston and I am totally Masshole driver and the turn signal business in DC is a bridge to far!

Let me guess: you get on the Beltway or 270 and immediately have to nose over to the “fast lane,” only to have to desperately start switching back lane by lane to the right to make your exit just a few moments later. Slow clap for you. Maybe if you contented yourself to stay in the lane your exit is in—or one over—instead of your screeching, signal-less theatrics, you wouldn’t find it “so hard to use your turn signal.”

This right here.

NP Kinda funny since you are mostly the only one who does it. I can always tell which posts are yours. There's another thing you do that identifies you also.

You're absolutely right. The only reason I care where you are going is because I don't want to rear end you. I can't read your mind nor do I want to.

Calm your tits, IT WAS A JOKE!

You may have thought it was a joke but I believe it's the truth. I think in today's society people actually think nobody else deserves or needs to know which way they're going and screw them if it causes them problems.

But if I get in front of you and you rear end me, it's your fault. Always.

I don’t use turn signals mostly because I’m texting on my phone.

Not with my dashboard cam. You didn't do your due diligence to make sure it was safe to change lanes and all.

All your dashboard cam is going to show is proof of you being at fault, lolz!

You rear-end someone in front of you, it’s because you didn’t leave adequate distance. Period. If someone gets in front of you, it’s your responsibility to create enough distance again to allow you avoid hitting them in a panic stop.

“Muh dashcam will save me”

No. But it’s great evidence of your guilt.

NP here.

I've been driving down the road, in the right side lane, with my turn signals indicating that I'm about to turn right when someone speeds passed me on my left cutting me off and slamming on their brakes so they can make that right turn in front on me. That can't be my fault if I rear end them.

Outside of the DMV this generally does not happen. People understand you’re going to move in and stay the same speed or slow.

I hate living here sometimes. Inconsiderate people on and off the roads.

I don’t see this in MD as often as I did in NJ.
