I loved it!!! So funny! I love the scene where the (fictional) glamazon actress Julie Delpy comes in to the restaurant and the real Julie Delpy aka Justine had a fan moment and tries to get her on Instagram. That was hilarious.

I didn’t like the character of Yasmine- too high strung, and tying her ethnicity to some kind of mysterious secretive international spur work…?? I did enjoy the concept of her Tesla driving (of course hahaha!!) tech genius apparently rich husband’s possibly suspicious activities in Palo Alto (of course!!!) with a middle Eastern Prince (hahah so funny and spot on!!). This is show is so smartly because it riffs off of absurd crap that happens in every day life of this demographic! I also love the scene of the semi-gross husband having a back pain attack right while trying to seduce his wife, with his pants off and butt cheeks bouncing around. Semi-gross chewing in his sleep and just looking kind of ugly/cute and all. Oh and the smooth talking decoy hippie grey haired surfer vagrant spiritual author lover who hits on Anne in the expensive natural foods store!! Omg he is a 100% spot on character!!! It is incredibly funny when they are in bed and after making love she’s asking where he lives and he’s all blah blah blah and she says “oh. Your homeless”. Here she is as this rich heiress, kindly but do nothing except lose money on her “fashion line” lady, bringing home yet another a new dependent… in addition to her younger husband who wants to “fu** other people in his own apartment”, her do nothing nanny, and of course her own (coming out as gay…) child. All her activities and dependents are of course funded by mean evil rich mother who foists vases and manicures and fancy lunches on her. Oh how she suffers…

Of course let’s not forget how quickly Justine fell for the sexy chef and was sucking some kind of sloppy “magical” food off the fingers of the shaggy haired passionate Argentinian who wants to leave his wife. The deranged feeling of falling in love at the same time her clueless husband tells his friend that things have been great in their marriage “…since Monday…” . Oh this is the peak of sad hilarity. He is so self obsessed with his architectural greatness he can’t even buy the groceries while she puts in long stressful work days. Sadly, this is a common way relationships go from unhappy (on her end at least…) to simply over.

Very funny, all around, I love Julie Delpy. She is delightful and adorable and so observant of Southern California/American bourgeois middle age issues and miseries, as silly as they may be. The sad sad scene at the end of the couples all on the bus ride home after the disastrous paintball bday party was depressing, just like their everyday lives- a perfect parable- it was supposed to be fun, not be sad. And yet... Can’t wait for a another season!!!

This is a good suggestion. Also Working Moms, though they are not quite middle-aged yet. But I find the characters more relatable as they aren't uber-rich.
