Bunting is gone, Bunting is gone, Bunting is gone. That is all
Except Lord Grantham cold-cocked the simpering art consultant |
|
"Golly, what a night." Could she be more annoying?
Good riddance Bunting. Don't let the door hit you in the... Edith. Poor, poor Edith. I'm still thinking she's going t go to America. Happy for Rose. He reminds me of a young Prince William.
|
| I'm thinking Edith is going to London, thus the call. She has to get a lawyer involved to pry Marigold away from the farmer |
|
Oh Edith. "I've simply GOT to make a super double top secret call downstairs with the doors open and the servants lurking!" Doesn't half the village and family know about her daughter at this point?
I liked Violet's line to Isobel about Lord Whatsit having her on the operating table. |
| The best scene was when Mrs. Patmore told Carson about purchasing the little cottage. Sne and Mrs. Hughes played him like a fiddle. The pompous old goat. |

Whst s great episode! Finally!
Love that Rose gets a love interest. And he's pretty dishy! Too bad about the anti-Semitism by the Russians she's hosting. Appropriate for the time, but I wonder how it may affect her feelings of sympathy for them. I am afraid to dare dream that this is really the end of Bunting. I did think her last scene with Tom was kind of sweet though. I love Charles' scheme! I loved everything about that restaurant scene. Mabel is awesome, and I wish we could see a lot more of her. Robert is so incredibly tiresome. What a jerk. I wish he and Bunting had run off together. I wish they would discover that Robert had killed green, so we can get rid of Robert and grid of the tedious green investigation as well. I am tired of the writing making Edith such a sad sack. It was great when she was writing for the paper and having a romance. This plot line is really sad. I don't see a way around it, but I'm afraid that she's going to wind up doing something totally crazy and probably criminal. I loved Rosamund's line to the Dowager about how she must have read something that said old people being rude was amusing.
Loved every scene with Isobel and Violet. Do we think that Violet now really cares that Isobel winds up with the person best for her, rather than just being concerned about losing rank? Violet seemed very sincere and her conversation about it with the doctor. |
| If edith agrees to take Marigold and put her in a french boarding school I am going to stop watching. Seriously, does Julian Fellows hate this actress. The ONLY Scenes she gets week after week are sitting around with that constipated look on her face. She could be the most interesting character ont the show. Why don't they follow up with her column writing, or a move to London or here is another love interest. Marigold is like 3 years old now, she needs to move on. |
Exactly what I was thinking! Though better looking than the real Prince William. I think Rose is adorable and deserves a good romance. As for Edith, what on earth were Aunt Rosamund and the dowager urging her to do? Put Marigold in a French school, with no one who loves her? What a ridiculous idea. By now, the farmer and his wife have bonded completely with Marigold and I think it would just be so cruel to remove her from their family. I feel for Edith, but also for the farmer and wife! I think Edith was calling a lawyer in London, though I don't know to what end. Why doesn't Cora pick up on what's going on right in front of her face? She walks in on the dowager, Aunt Rosamund, and Edith, all intently discussing something, and doesn't even wonder what's going on? Wake up, Cora!! |
| My favorite part was when the Dowager was discussing her maid leaving because the maid's mother was "infirm". She then tells Isobel that she, herself, is infirm, and why doesn't the maid care about that? It was the way she delivered the line that had me truly laughing out loud. She is hilarious. |
I think she was calling her missing fiance's lawyer. Does she have access to his money? He did have her sign something right before he left. She could take the money and the kid and run off to America or the like. |
| Finally, a good episode! About time. |
I hope she does this! it makes perfect sense and she would be SO much happier. |
This was awesome. I realize Cora is an Edwardian woman, but really she never expresses a single emotion! And Bunting saying that it was a "grammar school and a step up" doesn't sound very socialist. She's such a hag. Glad she's gone and cheering that Tom stood up to her. |

I want Edith to get Marigold, but I don't want her to go to the States. I am afraid she would fall into the clutches of Shirley MacLaine/ Grandmother Levinson and become totally batty. Let her go to London and raise Marigold as her own child. She has the money, either her own inheritance which she has referenced in the past, or she make her own damn family pay for it. They can sell off a few acres of Downton to the sleazy builder.
I loved that Mrs. Patmore bought her cottage and realized she could rent it safely and earn some cash flow. Daisy may not be the only one who picked up a thing or two from Bunting (gah, does anyone even know that woman's first name?). It was kinda sweet but also sickening that Patmore and Hughes made Carson think he was ever so clever with his investment advice to Mrs. Patmore. I feel sorry for Cora that the man who was interested in her was that creepy art dealer. Lord Merton and Dr. Clarkson are also older but attractive. Clarkson, in fact, is sexy. The Russian nobility are showing their true colors as they probably ordered the two polgroms in Odessa. I wonder if they realize that the largesse they are enjoying from Rose is being funded by Cora, the daughter of a Jewish man? Oh stop me, I have to go unplug the crockpot. |

No, I'm sorry I think Edith is being incredibly selfish. I don't want her to "get" Marigold. She's was incredibly selfish to take her away from the first adoptive family and being even more selfish by trying to take her away from the farmer's family. Marigold is bonded with the family, happy, and well cared for. For any mother that would be a God send.
She should have said Marigold was an orphan and brought her back to DA in the first place if she was going to do this. So awful for the kid. |
