FCPS comprehensive boundary review

I have posted this multiple times: Fix the problems where they are. The problems will not be solved by adding different kids. The SB is only interested in covering up the problems.

Fix the discipline issues before you move in more kids. That includes the truancy. Do they not care about the "good" kids that are already there? And, many of those "good" kids might be struggling academically. They deserve an education, too. Blaming it on demographics--as Lady does--is not the answer. I don't know if she is talking about economics or race--but it is troubling that she is blaming it on demographics.

I say this as someone who taught impoverished kids. You cannot teach if you don't have order in the classroom.

Robyn responded to questions where Langley posters brought up differences in test scores and disciplinary incidents between Langley and Herndon. The questions, as I recall, were often in the "you can't possibly expect our kids to attend Herndon when X" vein.

At another point, as this clip shows, she was jeered by the Langley parents when she said kids can get a good education in every FCPS school.

The Langley parents try to put her in a Catch-22 situation. If she responds that some differences reflect demographics, they imply that she's the racist one or has low expectations for poorer kids. If she doesn't respond that way, they'll claim there's something wrong with the teachers and administrators at Herndon. It's all intended to suggest that no one could possibly be moved from Langley to Herndon unless Herndon's current stats look just like Langley's. I'm not sure the SB will hold themselves to that standard, but we'll see. If the enrollments at Langley and Cooper are trending down it may be moot.

They are trending down in a pretty big way. The membership at the beginning of the school year fell significantly short of there’s one year projections from eight months prior.

NO. No one knows anything and this entire thread is speculative. There are a few posters who seem to love getting everyone riled up with their hypotheticals, but they don't know anything more than the rest of us. Best to just ignore them.

Are you including the Langley posters who keep coming up with hypotheticals to move anyone but Langley kids into Herndon? They’ve been quite active here.

I'm including anyone and everyone who keeps throwing out hypotheticals of any kind - to include all of the posters who don't even have kids at Langley but feel entitled to opine about where those kids should be moved.

Tell your neighbors to pipe down then. There’s no group that spends more time trying to map out boundary changes that would move kids at other schools, but not their schools, than Langley parents.

F off. No one in the Langley pyramid wants ANY kids moved. We just want you to stop pushing to move our kids when there is no justification for it.

You’re obsessed with Langley for some reason. Get over it.

Like you speak for the entire Langley pyramid, lol.

Sadly, while you may say you don't want any kids moved, you or your fellow LHS parents spend half your time coming up with fallback positions to try and make sure that, if any kids are moved, they are other kids and not yours. And then trying to promote those alternatives - like pushing Chantilly kids into Westfield and Westfield kids into Herndon - here.

Cut it out or expect to get called out.

Curious. What makes you think that was a Langley parent? There are parents trying to push out Chantilly neighborhoods so they can get their neighborhoods into Chantilly.

Chantilly's enrollment looks to be dropping. So, Chantilly is fine with the current boundary.

I’m a frequent poster from Langley area and I don’t think any boundary should be moved pursuant to this comprehensive study. Period. If there is real demand in one-off situations, then that’s different in my mind.

That poster is just trying to cast Langley in a bad light to suit her own ends. She just loves attacking her neighbors based on a narrative that she has made up in her own head. See the previous pages of the thread where she continues to try to race bait Langley folks using some pretty grotesque racist language.

No justification 🤣🤣🤣did you forget the part where there is a highschool 3 miles away instead of 12. You just don't like the justifications. That doesn't mean they don't exist.

New Year, same drivel from the equity warriors.

Lolllllllllll.....i don't think equity means what you think it means.
Laughable how some folks try to use one word to scare away people when presented with sound and reasonable arguments.

No one really thinks they are going to be able to get their neighborhood into Chantilly now if they aren’t already there. There are Langley posters who’d like to see Herndon get an influx of kids from Westfield so Herndon couldn’t possibly absorb students from Great Falls. Some of you argue, in the alternative, that future planned (but not yet built) development in the TOH will fill up Herndon eventually. It’s all of a piece, but at least the latter doesn’t involve suggesting that kids other than your own get moved around.

Really? Provide some evidence. I see plenty of other posters here advocating for WSHS and Chantilly, etc. You seem to be fine with their opinions. Maybe it's you who should pipe down.

What are the upcoming developments in Herndon? Would be interesting to see if they are already factored into the CIP.

What school do your kids attend? Funny how you "know" who the Langley posters are, but never divulge where your own kids go - yet you're deeply obsessed with moving Langley kids.

I just love the way the PP tells others to shut up, while continuing to bray about where kids not her own should be moved.

I haven’t. I’ve simply called out your Langley neighbors who clearly have.

Sorry you’ve resorted to lies and conflating multiple posters. Try to do better.
