between Genesis and his solo career, he became seriously overexposed. Do you think that was a mistake, or it was wise to cash in when he could?
I think he was unfairly labeled a sell out. |
| Kind of like Rob Thomas in the aughts. |
| He had rock cred with Genesis but by the time he was doing theme songs for second-rate Disney movies it was all over. (Aaaaand now that crappy You'll Be In My Heart song is going to be stuck in my head all day. Thanks for that, OP.) |
Cool Phil Collins trivia: He's the only artist to play both the London and Philadelphia Live Aid concerts on the same day in 1985. |
Thanks

| Sell out! |
| Underrated genius. Very few artists have written and performed as many hits as that one man over such a long period of time. I miss him. |
| This is so random, I love it. |
| Sting also, even more so a sellout. |
Except talented |
| I love Phil Collins. His sound was unique and he actually wrote music. |
| I love Phil Collins. I'm happy he made his money. Why does he have to be labeled a sell out? |
He made his money but then he lost a lot of it in his three divorces. I think he lost $84 million all told. His last one was a $46.76 million cash payout was the biggest celebrity divorce settlement in Britain. I mean, it topped what Paul McCartney had to pay Heather Mills, that is saying something. |
| He is a tax exile in Switzerland as he refuses to pay his fair share of UK taxes. |
Matchbox Twenty or VM?
