The high school letters are coming out next month , and we applied to 3 schools. Stone Ridge , Holy child , and St. John's . My daughter has all A's and one C. I just wanted to know the pros and cons of st.john's , Stoneridge and Holy Child .

Very different schools....

SJC - very very diverse both ses & race, coed (DD goes there and this could be a big distraction), great sports, scholars program is excellent, teachers are ok, some not so much, very rigid sort of military (not relax) environment, 1 second late to class and you have a detention, great location, easy access to friendship hghts and bethesda.

SR- DD shadowed there and loved it, but then she wanted coed. Not very diverse. One of the few schools you don't here a whole lot of negative about. Great arts program. Do a search on here, lot has been written before...

HC- search again....

Holy child is quite the opposite of SJC. Very small and not diverse. But a good fit for many girls.

You mean demerit right? not detention. A certain amount of demerits = detention.

Just to clarify.

Good synopsis though. SJC is also building up their science programs

Holy Child isn't a very good school, and has zero name recognition outside of a small part of MoCo

SJ is good, and trying to get better

SR is wayyyy above both of these schools in terms of academics, reputation and the type of student/child it helps to produce

"type of student/child it helps to produce"-- get over yourself. Yes the schools are different, but each has a range of kids and "produces"a range of students. In fact many of the kids attending one have siblings at another. Often a determining factor between SJC and the others is preference for coed. That, and concern about sending kids to school with people concerned with "reputation and the type of student/child it produces".

What classes does SR offer that is not offered at the other 2?

Can you clarify? DD goes to a grade school where a good chunk of the graduating class goes here. It's on her list. What's wrong with it?

Aside from being far to small for my DD, we were very disappointed with the academics. Seemed great for the girls who needed extra support or those looking to ease the workload/rigor of HS. That has proven true for nearly all of the girls we know there.

SJC is great in the Scholars Program. Not so much otherwise if you are looking for challenge. Great for the average kid who would struggle elsewhere.

No, I meant detention. Have x amount, and you end up with a Saturday one. My middle schooler will be the one to get a demerit.

I meant do a search since I have no first hand knowledge, that's all. One of DD friends from swim team, along with her sisters go there, and love it. A couple girls from her travel hockey team attend there and also love it.
