Does the Quran require non-Muslims to not mock Mohammed or does it only prohibit Mulims?
|
It doesn't say anything at all about it. |
+1 |
It doesn't say you can put up an image of Mohammed but it would be blasphemy to draw mocking, disrespectful images, no? |
Sorry, doesn't say you can't. Imag fine. Blasphemy wrong. |
Pretty sure Muslims don't get to tell non-Muslims what they can and can't do. |
They do in Islamic states. |
I'm asking what the Quran says. Not what you think. My understanding is that the Quran has differnt rules for Muslims and non-Muslims. I'm many religions it's not blasphemy for a non-believer to disrespect the religion. |
19:21. Your position has been noted.
I am curious about the Quran, regular Muslims, and want to know more. |
I don't care about any religion's make believe books. Opiate for the masses or sone such thing. |
I'm asking this question with respect, knowing that I know little. Are there no Mulsims or people familiar with the Quran who can answer?
(I don't know why the PP is on the religion board, and I'm agnostic!) |
I'm a Muslim and responded early on saying that the Quran does not specify anything about this. |
Then what are the rules about blasphemy? |
I am not a scholar, and I can only speak from my limited knowledge. I apologize for any errors I make. My understanding is that you leave people to their beliefs, but that those people who do not believe in a single God or his message and messengers will be addressed/punished by God. Muslims are not supposed to "punish" them. There's a sense that there is nothing another human can do to convince someone who deliberately disbelieves. Chapter 15 of the Quran addresses this pretty directly. |
I'm sorry if I've unclear. Blasphemy usually refers to poor behavior toward God (or Jesus or the Prophet, etc.) by a believer. It's not necessarily blasphemy if a non-Muslim insults the Prophet. |
