Cogat score - no letter for pool?

Anonymous
If the scored came alone, should we assume ds is not at the benchmark? He has verbal of 134. Any word on benchmarks for this year?

We rec'd our scores and pool letter Saturday. According to our AART the benchmark is: 132 composite score on the CogAT or 132 in the NNAT.

Most years it was enough to have any subsection be at or above 132. BUT, there have been some years when the COMPOSITE had to be at or above 132. I don't know what the requirement is this year.

My DD had 149 on verbal when she took it, but she wasn't in the pool b/c her composite was 130 (I think).

What was the composite? That is the number in bold that determines who is pool eligible. 132 or higher gets in pool.

Composite was low- a shock. We didn't prep and ds was pulled out for a reading groups during the practice test for the last 2 sections. In past years sometimes they've used one of the three so I was hopeful. Nnat was 97 %. This kid hasn't had anything lower than a 4 in any subject his primary teacher teaches and is in reading and math pullouts.

Schools just got the scores. They'll be sent either by mail or backpack this week.

The smart schools send them home immediately to cut down on the calls from parents!

It does appear this year they are going by the composite standard age score (i.e. one subtest alone won't do it). 132 or above.

I know that because DS told me he was. I was concerned but the teacher told him they'd make it up- but according to ds never did. He only did verbal practice. I'm not saying he'd be in pool- but can't wonder if he would have scored better.

My error -- I see it in the first paragraph.

What does this mean: "Pool letters are being sent from schools the week of January 13 to families of students in the 2nd grade screening pool. Students who are not in the 2nd grade pool will not be notified. Test results from fall administration of the CogAT are expected to reach families via mail from the local school by the end of January."

If we don't get scores this week, we are not in pool?

Anyone from Vienna Elementary or Cunningham Park get anything this week?
