This thread is for those of us who wish we were obnoxious enough to correct other posters in the relevant threads but just cannot do it.
I'll start. Here is a place. Hear is what you do with your ears. It's y'all, not ya'll. The proper use of an apostrophe in a contraction is to replace the missing letters (in this case the o and the u). It's lose weight, not loose weight. Quite is used for emphasis. Quiet is what you want your vacation beach to be (in fairness, this one may have been a typo). Its is the possessive form of it. It's is a contraction of it is. Writing alot is like writing thetree. It's a lot. Please join in below with the ones that are driving you crazy. |
You think this isn't obnoxious? |
I don't think it's obnoxious.
I think the guilty offenders should read and learn! I'll be back to contribute later. ![]() |
Thank you, Hall Monitor. |
The hags that are into hand written Thank You notes also know that adults do not correct the grammar or spelling of other adults in social settings. |
I'm amazed when the word "discrete" is used instead of "discreet."
As in, "Looking for a discrete woman to xxx and xxx." |
No caps for "Thank" or "You." ![]() Also, I don't consider DCUM a social setting. |
OP, are you a douchebag or a douche-bag?
I wrote ya'll earlier. It was a typo and not because I don't know proper apostrophe use. I don't proofread my messages compulsively before I post them and I generally tend to get by with minimal typos. If you've got the time to proofread everyone's messages, though, you should consider a hobby. BTW, my SIL is an editor. She tells me that most people who criticize other people's IQ's for the hell of it have low IQs and do poorly on math tests. Studies have been done. |
I suspect the op is as old as dirt. |
Is you editor a psychologist too? |
Not the OP, but that is the one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard (and on this board that is saying a lot). |
I can't even get into the use of the term per se. If you are not positive that you know what this means, or think it is spelled "per say," or think it has anything to do with "saying" anything, please never use it again. |
Strike the apostrophe in IQ's. Cites for the studies, please. Sounds bogus. |
"She tells me that most people who criticize other people's IQ's for the hell of it have low IQs and do poorly on math tests."
In what context? |
"Also, I don't consider DCUM a social setting."
What is it? The workplace? School? |
