I’ll start - my DD’s ECNL team has four Q4 starters! Four! That’s gonna be a shake up. I’m wondering where they’re gonna get extra talent from because the team one age group above only has one trapped player. I’m hoping there are good ECNL-RL players hiding somewhere otherwise her team is about to be decimated. And for all the people who say that those starters will just play up — for how long? and why would you continue to play up when it hurts your recruiting chances? Better to start playing with your new team so you can get used to playing with each other before the recruiting years begin. |
They don't have play in their age group. If they are that good, then they should continue to player bigger/older players. |
50% Q1, 30% Q2, 15% Q3, 5% Q4 |
You are talking about Popular ECNL teams. There will be no issues for them because they have the numbers. But not every ECNL club can field good teams. Now imagine they current teams losing 3-4 trapped players and only getting one from the older squad….. |
You clearly have no idea how elite recruiting works for top female players. You're either referencing average club soccer or much younger kids. For any 2012 or above this is nonsense. The talented players are going to play in their recruiting class. Dominate the competition and get massive exposure for the best opportunities. There is a world far beyond your local ECNL team if you're the best. Q1/Q2 are currently the best as you can see from the responses. That's silly given they are the youngest in their grade. All will be fixed in a few weeks...hang tight. |

I think I posted this info previously in the 293 pages. We're not in the DMV, but my daughter's team has a pretty high number of Q3/Q4 players. ECNL team.
2009 BY player. Of her roster, there are 5/18 that are Q3 or Q4 plus 1 that is truly playing up as a 2010. Looking at the 2008 roster, there are 3 that are Q3/Q4 that potentially would move down. So, IMO, it would have a pretty big disruption of her team. Of those 6 impacted, 4 of the 6 have been with the team since U13. We shall see how this plays out. |
You have no clue. My daughters 2010 team has 3 trapped players and 2 start. The 2 that start (my daughter and the goalie) have already told each other that they're not playing down with the 2011s. The 1 trapped player that doesn't start hasn't told anyone what she wants to do. The player is really good and works her butt off on the field. Her mom unfortunately is a nasty social climbe who's burned multiple bridges along the way. I don't know if her ego will let her daughter play down or if her willingness to do whatever it takes to win will have her front of the line for those looking to play down. It will be an interesting social experiment watching how different parents react. |
For sure! But I don't think parents will have a saying. If this happens, the rules will be enforced accordingly. |

I bet most starting u14 and above trapped players will choose to stay with their current team. Assuming another player doesn't come down from a team above and take their position.
Once players and parents get to u14 movement from team to team slows dramatically. Parents are burned out on soccer and just want to get it over with. Switching to different players and parents isn't appealing. For youngers I can see parents that are new to soccer jumping at a perceived "opportunity" to play down against younger players. A word of advice, you might get 6 months of advantage but over time the team will catch up. Bench players a year up will find their way to the bench a year down. Amazing players a year up will continue to be amazing a year down. |
| We have 4 trapped players on our NAL team. All 4 are starters. |
The rule won'tbe enforced by the club. Club will get the final say for these Q3/Q4 players. |
For youngers maybe not. For olders definately players will be able to choose. |
| For the first year, clubs will get to say how they want to do this. 2013 will follow this new rule but 2012 and above, it will be subjective depending on many factors and players pool the clubs have. |
