If you are SAH in McLean what is your HHI?

Anonymous
We are thinking about doing this when DH transitions into a new level of work.

What is the typical HHI for those that SAH in McLean?

We have 2 elementary kids in public and a new house and our current income is 350K.

If you can work out a budget that makes it work for you, with your particular HHI and your particular expenses at your particular standard of living... why does it matter what is typical for your neighbors? If it's something you want to do and you can afford to do it, just do it. It's really that simple.

It does matter because you typically want to fit in or else it will either be uncomfortable or awkward. We don't subscribe to being the poorest on the block and struggling.

Sounds exhausting. But, if that's how you want to live, have at it.

How is that exhausting? It's planning, I would be exhausted if I didn't make enough and was struggling.

NP. yes it does sound exhausting and stupid. 1) its YOUR income and budget, different people have different spending levels and debt. The person making 5 times as much as you might not spend what you spend, etc. 2) why are you focusing on keeping up with your neighbors? Live your life and spend how you feel comfortable. If you are living pay check to pay check and want to thats your choice. Your neighbors income has nothing to do with YOU.

Living life comfortably is being the same SES as your neighborhood. Why is that so hard to understand?

Here is a better question

If you live in a new build and are a SAH what is your HHI. Also indicate your mortgage payment.

There are studies that show that how you do compared to your neighbors affects your overall happiness. You don't want to be the poorest in the neighborhood according to the studies.

How the hell do you know *how* your neighbors do? They could be riding around in a Tesla on fucking credit? You people are absurd!
