No, to me it doesn't. There are plenty of players who develop perfectly well outside the DA system. Few professional leagues, in any sport, will turn down an exceptional player just because they developed outside their system. And that national federation, in all their wisdom, didn't make the last world cup. But it won't matter in about 12 hours, so who cares at this point. But hey, maybe our kids DA shirts will be collectors items in a few years! |

MLS will run their OWN youth league. Its not over for the best of the best boys in our country.
NWSL should (but wont) don't the same (no money). Now, instead of running a overly expensive youth league, USSF should fully fund NWSL academies for girls. ITS THAT EASY! BEST OF THE BEST ONLY. SCOUTING TO GET RECOMMENDED AND ACCEPTED. NO LOCAL COACHES WITH TIES. NO LOCAL COACHES WITH INFLUENCE. |
Great post. Can you do Maryland next? Wondering how Bethesda and Armour fit in with Celtic and Maryland United. I'd imagine they would split that NE division. Maybe: Bethesda Armour Celtic MD United FC Delco Lehigh PA Classics PA Bucks Penn Fusion Uki's Maybe a south Jersey team or 2 No drive more than 2.5 hours. |
That would be a great Girls MA division ECNL. I agree that Metro United won’t get picked up and that Arlington should and that FCV is too much of a powerhouse to not get picked up. But what about BRYC? THey’ve been spiraling downhill (on the girls side) for the last couple of years. Other than the 17s and 18s, who are juniors and seniors in HS and were established teams before the DA crazy started, their teams are in or close to last place in the current ECNL division. Would ECNL drop BRYC? |
So, in summary you have a leadership change that happened essentially in the dark of the night as a result of a lawsuit, that made an arbitrary, large scale decision to scuttle an organization. The new leadership tipped off cronies of a competing organization and business associates in a member club so they could bail out before the storm, which obviously fueled the rumor mill. That club will potentially financially benefit at the expense of others who were not afforded that insider information. Any lawyers on this thread who are DA parents? My sense of what’s happened here is that it’s at the very least unethical and possibly illegal. Regardless, not a good start for a new regime in a questionable organization, historically. |
If someone sues please also sue the USWNT, the NWSL, and China! |
The guy who called Sue... SMDH Sucks to Suck, welcome to the hypocrisy of ever single sports forum out there. You will always know more by who you know. Don’t get upset because this time your club didn’t benefit from it and you weren’t sitting at the cool kids table at Sweetwater Tavern to know the inside scoop. |

The only way VDA still exists in the future is if VSA and PWSI merge clubs and just call the merger VDA |
Bwahahaha.... I like you ^^^^ |
| On the boys side, I would expect the teams to play EDP, as they were already doing at some age groups. The level is much better than ECNL for less travel. |
|
I see the PWSI loyalists are upset about losing their DA patches. It was 100% about the DA name and arrogant, so arrogant |
| On boys side I see many going to EDP where they already have relationship rather than ECNL where bad blood remains |
|
To the ex-DA parents trying to reform ECNL conferences, I recommend you instead get ready to tryout at ECNL clubs if that’s what you wish. ECNL is not going to restructure themselves and fold everybody in. Nor are they going to let ex-DA clubs draw away players from its current members.
In the future, yes there’s potential to fold in clubs to grow it even further. But there’s already a regional league of ECNL, not that it’s impressive. Yes, this does suck but our league won’t just take you because you want the highest league. Earn it, as our clubs did. |
