What do Atheists believe?

Anonymous
I think that because there is an atheist poster here who constantly posts god doesn’t exist.

You think that means it's what atheists believe in general, if there is one person here posting it over and over?

No atheist has ever contradicted this poster and they post it on every thread.

I had you pegged as a Lisa Frank type.

But unicorns don’t have rainbow horns though. Duh.

How does one know what unicorns look like? Do you know some species do not have rainbows horns?

Do you contract every crazy thing said by someone professing to be a believer?

And it's not true. People have disagreed with the sentiment, but they give up after awhile. No point in beating a dead horse.

You just have to believe and it will all make sense.

That's just not true. Many atheist posts have said there is no absolute proof.

I truly thought atheists just were non-believers, and believed in no higher power across the board. I didn’t think they were that invested in vocally negating the beliefs of others. I truly thought they were more live and let live, I do me you do you.

If someone here was a believer who angrily announced on every thread all non-believers were hell bound, I would suggest that though some religions may teach that, being a jerk about it probably won’t makr anyone more receptive of the message. If you truly care about mankind you want to help people and share the good news positively, not condemn people.

Would you do that every time? How many threads? How many years?

Like someone said above, there are plenty of atheist posts that disagreed with that sentiment. I can point out plenty of posts where someone wrote that atheists were hell-bound, or miserable, or deluded,/deranged, and apparently went unchallenged by you.

Which is okay. It's not your job to police all the threads. Not mine, either.

Prove it -- I don't think you can. Perhaps it's how you take what they say and perhaps there is an atheist who says something like that occasionally, just the way believers say "God is real!" or some other superlative about God that can't be proven.

I just don’t believe in a God or superior power. Or afterlife and anything that it entails.

On a side note, it pisses me off that religious people feel it is ok to present the existence of a God as a certainty to my children. Can you imagine if I just said to a child who is having a play date:sleepover with my child that “God does not exist” rather than “I think God does not exist, or I do not believe in God?”

Well, the subject doesn’t even come up with children here in my home, yet, it apparently it does often in other’s people homes for what my daughter comes back parroting.

So you want people to censor and deny their religious beliefs in their own homes?

Perhpas pp means that a sleepover is not the time to proselytize your beliefs.
