Things you secretly oppose, but don't want other people to know:

Ok, I'll bite:

Black people who think they are the only ones who have ever been oppressed.

Black people who actively oppress gay people -- voting against gay marriage, gay adoption, etc.

Black people who recite examples of historical oppression that have long been outlawed, while supporting the continued legal oppression of gay people here, now, today.

Black people who fail to realize there are gay black people.

+1
I live in a majority Black neighborhood and had a white guy canvasing door to door on my street encouraging people to support marriage equality and he didn't understand the negative reaction he was getting from my neighbors when he made the Civil Rights comparison.

I wouldn't understand the negative reaction either. Please explain it to me. It seems like both cases are people who are treated without dignity because of who they are. Sure, gays can "pass" as straight. Do you think that is the solution? What would you think if someone thought "passing" was the right solution for a light-skinned black person?

Agree with last PP. Moreover, in countries like Iran and elsewhere where homosexuality is a capital offense, there are homosexuals. They are repressed and closeted, but they certainly exist. Homosexuality is increasingly understood as a natural sexual orientation. Sure, there are some people who "choose" to engage in homosexual behavior. But as most homosexuals will tell you, they were attracted to the same sex from the very beginning of their sexual awareness - it was not a choice. I think the comparison to the black civil rights movement is right on point and that it's a civil rights issue.

Also, SAHMs who say things like "our income" - it's not yours, it's your husband's.

You are an idiot. This is what is wrong with modern feminism. I will take 1920's feminism any day.

Um, if you are staying home doing all of the childcare and homemaking as your end of the deal and your husband is making the money as his end of the deal then saying "our income" is totally correct. And I'm a working mom who contributes 50% to our income but still recognize that being a SAHM is a job.

No, it's not. So when DH gets a raise or bonus for finishing a difficult project or solving a difficult problem at work, does the SAHM get to say, "Wow. we got a raise because we thought of a really great solution to that problem/difficult project." No, she does not. And for those of you that'll come back here saying that by her taking care of all the household things she gave him the ability to get that project done. You need to compare whether he would have completed that project if he were a single man living alone. He thought up whatever that project entailed - he was the creative or trained or talented mind that did it. That's why she doesn't earn that income.

she has every right to share ownership of the bank account where that icome was deposited (OUR money, OUR accounts) and share ownership of the assets (OUR house, OUR cars) because she does work as a SAHM and contributes equally to the household. But it's definitely NOT correct that it's equally her income.

PP, try your asinine logic out with the IRS. What a combative idiot you are.

When you go for a job interview it must be so hard wearing that gay badge that everyone sees. Everyone knows you are gay so if there are biases, you are out of luck.

Driving while gay, sheesh. You have it rough. It must suck to be gaycially profiled like that.

So you are naive enough to think gays haven't been denied jobs or proper care!? You truly think they've been treated fairly by all the macho cops out there? Wow.

What are you mad at me for? It is society. Those new gay license plates suck. You can be minding your own business but you get pulled over just for being gay. Why do they make those plates required?

These hospitals with the straights only signs are the worst too. They should stop making people wear gay badges so maybe they could just get care without bringing personal affairs into this. Before the required gay badges, it wasn't easy to just know if someone was gay. Now they have to wear them so everyone knows- they don't get a fair chance at jobs, they get followed around in stores, and it is a mess.

I would rather be black. All they want is for the marriage laws to be changed and a fair chance at health insurance for their spouses. Plus with those new masks no one can tell if you are black or not. Easy peasy. We all fight the same fight. It is exactly the same so let us work together.

I (not so) secretly oppose smoking, and smokers. WHY would you do something that has no known health benefits and tons of health problems, not just for you, but for everyone around you? It's such a blatantly inconsiderate thing to do.

Hi, we're in 2013. Where in this country are black people prevented from going to the closest hospital? There is an issue of hospitals rejecting people for not having insurance, but that's a seperate issue. Moreover, gays and lesbians ARE profiled and targeted - all the time. And kept from employment and excluded socially and the victims of stereotypes and bigotry and violence all for being gay. Try playing some other cards.

Why don't you try playing some other cards besides that all blacks should feel the same about gays. Then you won't have these issues. Stand on your own. Or keep doing the same thing and you will keep getting the same stfu response.

How many vacations is it okay with you if my family takes? What if we just take two month-long ones instead of 8 week-long ones? Is it how many times we go out of town or how much time we spend not working? Where is the issue on this for you? Vacationing minds want to know.

I was responding to the PP, asshole, not suggesting that all blacks feel the same about gays. And while you're getting your head out of your ass, why don't you develop some reading comprehension, too. Thanks.

Guessing PP is a nanny who has to prepare vegan food for her charges, monitor their homeschooling (under fluorescent lights) so they'll get into a Big 3 private, and clean up after them in their huge house -- but doesn't get paid when the family goes on too many vacations.

Ooo. Is this a contest, I'm Jewish - can we talk about how rough my people have had it? Or are only blacks and gays allowed to play?
