Well, YES. You can’t be deposited at two colleges at the sane time. You put down deposit and secure spot and new school and then immediately notify/withdraw from the first one.

You don't have to do that if you're willing to lose 2 deposits. In some cases, that may make sense.

Not necessarily in this environment. Many schools fell short on their yield and are still offering money.

And how are they supposed to know about other deposits anyway?
