| They often pull private school kids when they have a relationship with the college counselor. |
Thank you...I appreciate it <3 |
That is just sad!! Our CC refused to call the school to advocate for my kid as he thought the school they have committed to is a good fit. |
Ours refused as well. Said they no longer advocate on behalf of students, but I’ve heard they advocate for more connected families. |
You don't have to do that if you're willing to lose 2 deposits. In some cases, that may make sense. |
Williams is a small extremely selective liberal arts school in mass. It's a different school than W&M. |
No! You can get booted from both schools if you are deposited at two. |
The practical meaning of that list: A lot of those schools are up in. The middle of nowhere, but they’re classy places with great aid. They’re good for students who want to be at a small, cosy place and go to law school later or work on Wall Street. |
Thank you. I finally have it cleared up - not the same school at all (the eye-roll is to me, not you...lol)

Nothing yet from Emory or Georgetown. Still waiting
|
Just stop. Our public school kids are getting waitlist offers. No special relationships there. |
Can you share the school whose waitlist you're trying to get off and the school your CC said is a good fit? Do you think your CC is saving the WL spot/ AO relationship to help another kid who has a worse choice right now than your DC? |
|
The elite private high schools contact AO's about the waitlist long before its decisions are made.
It is a very transactional affair and in fairness, when you pay $80,000 a year you deserve special attention and robust advocacy. |
"In fairness, when you pay $80,000 a year you deserve special intention and robust advocacy." We have found it - the most unintentionally ironic claim on this entire forum. |
How is that “ironic”? NP |
