Agreed. An incredible character, very well portrayed. |

CNN: Your obsession with ‘Heated Rivalry’ is about much more than sex, therapists say

BUT BUT BUT he always orders a Ginger Ale! Seriously, that was someone's explanation for his autistic tendencies. I agree with you, PP. |
It's catapulted forward the normalization and acceptance of gay sex and relationships. Things just jetted forward in this regard. |
This is one of the (many) things I loved about Schitts Creek, too. The Canadians know how to do it. |
| Hudson’s portrayal of Shane is great. As a people pleasing and anxious person myself, he just gets it down so well. I adore book Shane because I could relate to him so much. I wasn’t sure how it would reflect in the show since a lot of his character development is internal. But Hudson nailed it. And it’s crazy how completely opposite Hudson is to Shane, just like Connor is so different from Ilya. Both are very talented and hopefully going places. |

So...I LOVED Heated Rivalry. And I did not expect to as I was worried it would not be very good.
But it is very good. I really loved its six-episode, decade-long story arc of passion, longing and love. I loved Ilya’s humor and Eastern European sarcasm. I loved Shane’s earnestness and inability to resist the pull of Ilya (relatable if you’ve ever been down bad for a 10 - you’d do anything for them). I loved the heartbreaking standalone 3rd episode; the cinematically perfect club scene at the end of the 4th episode; and the incredibly romantic and moving end to the 5th episode - it made me cry lol. I loved how the final episode played out, in the cottage and in the parents’ house...as it would in the real world, in a totally believable and heartwarming way. |
| I will forever associate heart eyes, love drunk eyes, sex drunk eyes, misty yearning eyes with this show. Peak, and I mean PEAK acting from the two leads. |
Yes this is exactly it. The passion is real and genuine. They captured it beautifully. |
I loved it, too. There were times when I was just so moved by his quietness. |

I posted this thread originally and it was pretty rough for a while, but I'm so glad there are lots of people who are sharing really interesting thoughts now.
There are obviously some people who self-insert when they consume media who can't understand enjoying a romance story that you can't insert yourself in. They an work on that in another thread. We'll keep enjoying this show and counting down to season 2. okay. okay. okay. |
+1 My social media feeds aren't full of HR anymore, but for a while there, I was seeing a lot of posts where Hudson was completely hilarious and wild. His acting is as impressive as Connor's to me. |
and here I thought it would be the underpass phone call scene that would win the Emmy for this series |

Interesting article about how they worked to create various moods and feelings through the use of light and cinematogrphy and videography.

Why is Hollywood so stupid? The show is popular because it’s well-acted, well-produced, and has a relatable story. It’s not the sex, nor is it the fast pace. It’s a happy story in an overall sad era, and people are looking for happiness right now. How are they missing this? |
