VHSL Boys Lacrosse 2026 Season

The Langley goalie was a 27 who reclassed and went to Langley and plays for DCE. The 28 kid left to go to Episcopal and plays for MadLax. DCE 28 has a 2nd goalie who goes to GP. Wasn't aware there was a 3rd at Madison.

Seemed like there was some good goalie play yesterday. Madison, Battlefield and even the Robinson kid all helped to keep the scores on the lower side. Battlefield and Madison goalies stood out though.

I looked again. DCE Orange transferred out of Landon for reasons unknown.

Fab 5 weren't on Oakton's varsity roster for turkey shootout... They are going full JV development with those 5. Seems like they could use them up on varsity based on the scores. Those kids would get a LOT better and develop faster playing against varsity talent, and seems like oakton could use them.

Or, the kids posting on here aren't as good as the rest of the kids trying out.

Anonymous wrote:Centerville parent here... Last night concluded the 4 day team camp between Centerville, Woodson, Patriot, and Westfield High Schools Varsity Lacrosse teams.

That was a super fun camp that I hope they continue to do for years to come, and maybe even expand it to additional teams.

The format of the camp each day was for the first hour, they divided up the players and coaching staff from all 4 schools between two fields. On one end were all the attackmen from all 4 schools with one offense coach from all 4 programs. They did the same thing with all the other position groups (All 4 schools fogos, mids, goalies, and D poles were together by their position with the various positional coaches from those different schools). It was awesome to see all the different teams coaches working together with players from different schools, teaching them high level concepts.

Starting on night 2, during the 2nd half of the camp each day, the schools had an hour-long scrimmage against each other with some HOF VHSL Refs in attendance to ref these games.

After the three nights of the teams playing each other, here was the 4 schools final records:

-Woodson (3-0)
-Westfield (2-1)
-Centerville (1-2)
-Patriot (0-3)

This camp was an awesome experience for all the kids, and their respective staff. Looking forward to doing this again next year, and excited to see these programs compete this spring!

Asking I guess out of jealousy, how is that within VHSL rules with Green/Yellow days etc?

No different than playing in fall brawl / turkey shootout

But it was directly coached by the team coaches, which I don't think happens at Fall Brawl.

New VHSL rule change this year allows coaches to coach their team in offseason games and tournaments like VEL, Fall brawl, etc.. Just counts towards a greenday. Each team is permiteed 32 total "Green days" or days the coaches can coach their team

This is a great explanation, thanks!

Also I now know that my kid's HS coach isn't going to get close to 25% of the use of Green days, what the heck??!?

Advocate to your school board to pay coaches more. They are expected to work year round for a 5k stipend (before taxes). Then, they hold green days and work outs during the off season that only half the players attend.

Then they have parents complain about not holding 32 Green Days.

Interesting dilemma.

Given that other spring sports are having Green days and lacrosse isn't, plus peer schools having been having Green days since back in October, it seems like it might be school/coach specific.

We have had 0 Green days with 0 currently planned. I fully understand the limitations and frustrations, but other coaches at the school are making it work. There should also be better ways to make Green days not hinge on just the singular head coach. If it is going to be purely weight room you can have more than one team in there at a time, structuring workouts to accommodate that isn't easy but it isn't impossible at all.

I'm sure your schools Head Coach would love for you to reach out and offer your assistance in attending/organizing/and helping coach. It sounds like they could really use your project management skills and expertise in coaching (Being completely serious).

From what I've been told any direct with students assistance requires you being a full-time assistant, being on-site every day. That's not feasible for me, and Green Days can only be handled by a full-time assistant. I'm not aware of any FCPS schools having any "S&C" type coaches, so it can't even be handled by someone of that nature (having non-certified/trained sport coaches handling weightlifting is not really ideal, but I guess better than nothing).

And how does one "transfer" to public school Madison? Kid who was originally within boundary(?)

I have been told that for baseball Madison will tell kids to request to take Latin, which I guess Madison is one of the few schools that offer it, so they can get kids there.

Landon kid could simply live by Madison but previously didn't attend, or the family moved.

You email the school you were out and telling them you will be returning to your local school then you walk into the main office and enroll.

You're assuming (in this case) Madison was "local" school. And just happens to be advanced lacrosse player. Guessing that's just a coincidence...

He’s Madison zoned. His sister also attends Madison.

I’ve seen them play on the JV side, 1-2 are observably more talented than the 3. Tough deal for those guys, they should be playing varsity. Surprised they aren’t considering playing somewhere else or WCAC. In the larger context it’s a good group but we’ve seen this before and those strong JV teams don’t always translate up to much when it matters.
