Why would anyone want to work for our government now?

Think about how fast (slow af) and intelligent (idiotic) your local DMV workers are. That's about to be the level of employees in all federal branches.

Um, they don't want people to want to work for the government...that's the plan. They are destroying the government.

Sorry. Cutting back a bloated behemoth of a government, that you believe should do womb to tomb everything under the sun for everyone, to a reasonable government, and not a friggen Soviet Politburo, is not destroying the government.

You do realize that the US has lower levels of public services than any other industrialized nation? The reason our debt is so high is (a) ridiculous levels of military spending and (b) never ending tax cuts from Republicans that explode the deficit.

Do you realize 17 cents of every dollar of GDP is spent on health care?

Not 17 cents of every tax dollar. 17 cents of every dollar.

Enough, FFS.

So what should be prioritized over health care?

What ever the EARNER wants to spend it on, not what some congressional staffer or an out-of-touch bureaucrat in a building in DC wants to spend it on.

the "out of touch bureaucrat" is simply carrying out the laws passed by the Congress. You make it sound like there are hordes of renegades with slide rules taking over the country.

And the EARNER was able to earn the money they earned because people before them paid taxes to invest in roads, communications infrastructure and other pathways to the earaner being able to earn. Perhaps you would prefer going back to the days of Pa Ingalls and everyone out for themselves?

There are hoardes of renegades who go through life daily with a mind set of "That SOUNDS wunnerful. Let's do it."

They do not live in the everyday world. They voice edicts from ivory towers and everyone has to follow. Their world view is a world government that runs everything is best.

If you ain't seeing it, you ain't seeing it.

let me guess. you inherited a huge pile of money. you fight fiercely to protect it, thinking it is your birth right. You are proud you kept the family business going. and are "self taught" on economics, because you got a "C" in college.

or even worse, you are self-made, but never think when you look back at your childhood friends "there but for the grace of god..."

It’s so embarrassing.
But the GOP in the Senate will fold too. Then as a country we can repent at leisure on the colossal stupidity of electing all of these losers.

While it’s been fun watching Trump rage at Musk and Newsome and tease a summer of violence in blue states, what is the GOP senate doing about the budget?

They're busy advancing bills that they known are illegal to pass, while they wait for their owners to tell them what to think.

Senate Republicans are going to make this even more unpopular and more of a sop to the rich. UFB.
“On the chopping block are some of Mr. Trump’s favorite parts of the bill, like not taxing overtime. Republican lawmakers have long been skeptical of some of the president’s tax ideas, with the view that the populist policies will not spur the economy like traditional supply-side conservatism can.”

“Senate Republicans want to require anyone seeking a temporary restraining order or a preliminary injunction against the federal government to first post a bond that covers the costs and damages sustained to the federal government.

We’re talking millions if not billions of dollars.

The Senate GOP's language is narrower than the contempt language in the House bill, and it's not retroactive.

But it has the same effect of letting Trump operate as a king, ignoring laws and knowing nobody will be able to afford suing his administration.”

The new changes in the Senate version of BBB that will cut funding for Medicaid do not apply to Medicaid non-expansion states, per sources familiar.

In those 10 states (WI, WY, KS, TX, TN, MS, AL, GA, SC, FL), provider taxes and state-directed payments will be frozen at current levels.

With the exception of Wisconsin, these are all red states. So the senate is limiting the damage of these cuts to red states so their voters won't be impacted.
