Uh, not quite. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6963451/ "An established finding bears repeating: the SAT predicts college achievement, and a combination of SAT scores and high school grades offer the best prediction of student success. In the most recent validity sample of nearly a quarter million students, SAT scores and high school GPA combined offered the best predictor of first year GPA for college students. Including SAT scores in regression analyses yielded a roughly 15% increase in predictive power above using high school grades alone." |
Amen. They had a hissy fit that their previous child didn’t get into his first choice of school. Newsflash many kids of all races who have the qualifications don’t get accepted to Harvard. The entitlement is breathtaking but not surprising. |
There should have been a time limit to affirmative action. Another one of Johnson’s mistakes |
Being a white male, I’ve always felt slighted because of it. |
Poor white males over-represented in most institutions. You are overly-represented in Congress. People trust you to make decisions about your own body. |
We can have all the diversity we want. Keep encouraging kids to study, stay in school, go to available after school tutoring programs, do homework at night, etc. Those with smarts and determination can do it. |
The college admissions process should be totally blind. |
Do you feel slighted that there are now more women than men in college? How about if there are increasing numbers of women in your workplace in comparable roles to you (assuming that's actually happening)? |
^Also, PP doesn’t see color. 🙄🙄 |
Don't you get it? You're arguement is SOCIOECONOMIC, not racial. The majority opinion agrees with you. |
Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t think top schools are concerned about their students success. It’s a given they will succeed just by merit of being selected and all the academic support the schools offer. |
Knew I could count on you for a vapid response, devoid of any historical knowledge. Good job stepping up to the plate. |
Do you feel the same way about the MCAT and LSAT? |
Nothing vapid about hard work. Those of us who work with kids who live in areas with few resources know what it takes to get ahead and succeed. We encourage and help kids instead of telling them to sit back and wait. |
